Spring Forever 21 Wish/Shopipng List

I shouldn't call anything from Forever 21 a wish list, because even I can afford most of it, but I just wanted your ladies ideas on some of my picks. That store is completely hit or miss when it comes to quality. Sometimes their stuff lasts forever, and sometimes it really is just "disposable" clothing.

Spring wish list-tops

I love basics and plan on getting the v-necks and tanks in a lot of colors. For only $4.50 and $3.50 each I can afford a rainbow. I'm really scared of prints, but I was strangely attracted to this floral top. It's very Carrie to me.

There I am with the florals again. I just bought the book from the Sex and the City movie and it had all of Carrie's outfits. She did a lot of florals, and it was the first time I could actually picture myself in florals, sinc they aren' dainty florals, but bold.
I'm on the very short side, but I'm dying to try a maxi-dress. For this cheap, if it looks dumb on me, I won't mind.

Thanks to Blair from GG, I've become quite the headband addict and the rest of the accessories just scream spring and summer to me.
So ladies, which to buy and which to forget about??

New Apartment/New House/New Dorm-Where to Save and where to Splurge

In these crappy, crappy times more and more people are staying at home longer (like me, froooowwwnn). However, it's really a great opportunity for us to save for a down payment, a couple months rent, furniture and whatever else. Even though I don't have a definitive move out day (it depends on the boys job) I'm going to begin to follow in my best friends' footsteps. My bff Anthony also doesn't have a definitive move out date, but let me tell you he could move out tomorow and have everything he needs! This made me think of the idea, buying as we go. If I have some extra cash, and some storage room, why not pick up something that I will only have to spend money on tomorrow.

When it comes to furniture, home furnishings and necessities there is always room for saving and of course the need for splurging.

Where to splurge:

Matresses and Box Springs-Any one who has lived in a dorm or college apartment knows how crappy it can be to sleep on a bad mattress or box spring. We spend way too much time in bed to buy a cheap mattress and box spring. I don't know about you, but if I sleep on a mattress that isn't right for me, my back hurts all day and therefore puts me in a totally crappy mood!!

Couch-A couch is similar to a mattress. If you spend a lot of time in your living room, or if you don't have a guest room, a good couch is important. It can become the focal point of your living space. Couches don't need to cost as much as a good mattress and box spring, they just need to be comfy for you. If you get bored of the look, that's what slip covers are for!

Bedding- A great down comforter can keep you toasty in the winter and cool in the summer. A great pair of sheets can make your bed inviting to you and others! Again, where you sleep is so important. Buying higher quality sheets will assure they last longer and wash well.

Pots and pans- There are so many cheap pots and pans sets out there. I bought quite a few of 'em for college. However, if you plan on cooking ever, getting a good quality set of pots and pans will make your cooking experience that much better. Stainless steel sets are a good option, becuase they heat up quickly and evenly. Some cheapo pots and pans sets are a good deal, however, you will need to replace them. A good set of pots and pans will last a lifetime.

Rugs/Carpeting- I know there are some people who say rugs is an area that can be saved on. I'm not one of those people. I'm not saying go out and buy an expensive persian, but do spend some amount of time judging the quality of the piece. I had some cheap-o rugs in college and every tiny crumb and hair would stick to them permenantly! No vacuum was able to get those suckers out and it was gross!

Entertainmet centers-This is another area where a lot of people would say save your money. But think about..you spend A LOT of money on those tvs, blu-ray players, etc. I want to make sure they are solid and safe. My mom spent not a lot on her entertainment center and the tv (a flat screen, so not as heavy) is all ready starting to make some of the wood buckle. This is dangerous for you and your pricey electronics.

Where to save:

Coffee tables/end tables: There are TONS of coffee tables you can find at Target, Walmart,Ikea, etc. Most of the time they end up getting covered in coasters and magazines anyway!

Dressers: You can find a lot of decent dressers at fab prices at Ikea, Target or even an unfinished wood store. Dressers are something that usually take a lot of beating. Before you buy a cheap-o one, test out the drawers and the handles.

Small kitchen appliances: Toasters, coffee makers, foremans..These are constantly on sale and unless you are a gourmet coffee drinker, you need super expensive ones!

Art work: Art work can be found at an array of amazing prices or can even be made by you! Check out college art fairs, art.com, ebay and yard sales for some amazing finds for your walls.

The She Space Sample Haul

A couple of weeks ago I placed an order to The She Space for some of their piggie samples. For only 50 cents a sample, I got quite a few and a variety of choices. I swatched them on my arm with out a base and I really, really suck at taking pics. Please fill me in ladies, how do you always take such vivid make up photos? Granted I'm paler than Casper, but my pics always show up so washed out.
N e who, I pretty much like all of my samples and plan on ordering a few more. The shadows are REALLY shimmery, so if you're not a big shimmer person, these probably aren't for you. I loved the samples and even the personalized handwritten note from the owner, the only thing that bugged me was how random the sample sizes were. Some baggies were filled with the full sample size (enough for five uses) and then some, while one or two baggies had barely any pigment in them. Oh wells! What do I expect for a half a buck??

Swatches (dry, with out a base) from Left to right:
Swim with the fishes, Twisted psychic, Ever so dreamy, feathers and crayons, fairy tale failed, messy moon, waiting for turtles and electric lust

Swatches (dry, with out a base) from Left ro right:
Risky behavior, Snow Capped, Divine Spark, Burned by the Light, Butterfly wishes, Just because, Powder Burn

My faves are snow capped (reminds of Mac vanilla), Divine Spark, Fairy Tale Failed and Waiting for Turtles.

Again, I'm sorry for the crappy pics!!

Selling Your Designer Duds

During these crappy economic times, some people may be interested in emptying out their closet and selling some old designer duds to get some cash for some new designer duds. Below are some resources that may help you do that:

-Local consignment shops- Local consignment shops are probably the easiest and least time consuming way to sell some designer duds. However, there are some drawbacks. You probably won't get too much money. These stores have to make a profit somehow and they will give you an amount for that Coach bag or Paper, Denim and Cloth jeans and then jack up the price. Also, some consignment stores are downright snobby! If the goods are too old, not designer-ish enough (meaning not high end enough) or not in 100% pristine condition, they may not buy them.

-Ebay- I personally have never sold anything on ebay, yet I know people love it! If you start your bidding on the lower end you may receive some more bids, yet there is no guarantee you'll get the price you want. Browse through ebay and see where starting and ending bids are on similar items to get an idea of what you may receive.

-Yard sales- I LOVE yard sales..Why? Bargains, bargains, bargains galore! All though this is awesome for the shopper, it may not be good for the seller. People are looking for bargains at a yard sale, so again you may not be able to get the price you were hoping for for your foods.

I personally have some small designer goods to get rid of and am considering having a blogger sale for them. That way I don't have to mess with ebay and can assure that someone will take good care of them lol.

It was perfectly wrapped and from my West Coast Luvie Diana of Paperdoll Revenge. We've been emailing a ton lately and I just really enjoy "chatting" with her and getting to know her. I thought I'd start a blog for fun and for mainly just my because I was giving a lot of tips for my one of my biffers Ashley and was like why not start a blog on it? Now, I've gotten the opportunity to "meet" all of these great people.

On to my awesome package-ness.

I told you-perfectly wrapped!!

Lush Review...so far

So I've been using my Lush facial products for about 2 weeks now. I know that's a short time to be doing a review, but I thought I'd give my initial review in hopes some people may be able to tell me what's going on!

I've been using the same facial products (moisturizers, make up, etc.) for a while now and have just been testing out face washes. I used a complete no name drugstore face wash and had minor break outs. When I ran out of that, I found they didn't sell it anymore and started testing out new ones. So far I've tried a Mark cleanser, the Clinique 3 step system, a Mario Badescu cleanser and now Lush, and have been suffering from major break outs. Mainly they are limited to my chin area, but I've recently been getting tiny break outs on my chin too which drives me loco!

For two weeks I've been using the Sweet Japanese Girl cleanser, which the SA reccomended to me for my super dry chin, nose and forehead, and break out prone chin (weird combo, right?). I put a couple dabs of the moistened bar on my forehead, nose, cheeks and chin and rub in circles around my face. I then put on a hot wash cloth over my face for a minute like the SA said and then rub in circular motions with the wet wash cloth for another minute around my face. Two-Three times a week I use the Angels on Bare skin as an exfoliator. At night before I put my moisturizer on, I spray a cotton ball with the Breath of Fresh Air toner and the rest of my facial routine is the same it's been for a while. I was PRAYING this stuff would work, but alas, break outs continue and have spread. I don't know whether to keep using it in hopes my skin is just reacting to something new, or what. I don't even know what i would try next.

Also, to you Lush ladies out there, question! I keep my face bar in a tightly sealed container in the shower, but out of the direct stream and I swear to you, I think it's growing mold..Is this possible? HELP!

I was given this award by the lovely Diana of Paperdoll Revenge. Thank you darlnnn!!

“This award is bestowed upon a fellow blogger whose blog’s content or design is, in the giver’s opinion, brilliant.

“When accepting this auspicious award, you must write a post bragging about it, including the name of the misguided soul who thinks you deserve such acclaim, and link back to the said person so everyone knows she/he is real. Choose a minimum of seven (7) blogs that you find brilliant in content or design. Or improvise by including bloggers who have no idea who you are because you don’t have seven friends. Show the seven random victims’ names and links and leave a harassing comment informing them that they were prized with Honest Weblog. Well, there’s no prize, but they can keep the nifty icon. List at least ten (10) honest things about yourself. Then pass it on!”

10 honest things about me...

1. I broke my collarbone when I was 2 and now my shirts always fit crooked because I never healed right.
2. I'm a lefty and I love it, but I HATE getting ink all over the side of my hand and frequently get pissed at righties because of it.
3. I can quote most one-liners from Sex and the City and Will and Grace..just quiz me.
4. I say I love you to the people I love probably too much, but I think it's better than too little.
5. I really hate my job, but am grateful to have it.
6. I can't swim..honestly.
7. I'm a totally boring person..my fave nights are spent with a fab meal, a fab movie and cuddling on the couch.
8. My second favorite nights are spent at a stadium of my choosing..I'm a TOTAL sports nut.
9. I used to write in a journal every day, but when my mom found it and I feel like I have total jounraling blockage now.
10. I hate being short, but love getting away with being "cute" and "tiny".

I'm one of those people who don't have tons of blogger friends, so I bestow this award upon my Kendall..Honestly, the girl cracks me up..Read her blog for hot looks and hard laughs.

Evolution of Style-Day 1

So here is my new series of post on my personal evolution to find my own personal style. This is honestly as inspired and as chic as I'll look to go to work, sad times right? I work in a casul environment so dark denim is allowed. (Thank Goodness!) I don't know what this style would be defined as, but that's what's so frustrating. I have no idea what my style is or my favorite store or anything. Sometimes I'll go into Banana Republic and love everything, and sometimes I'll go in and hate everything. Same thing with Express, F21, everything! Arrgghhh!

I love the way Kimberly outlines her outfits, so I'm borrowing from her format. If you don't read her blog yet, do so! She takes a photo of her outfit every morning for us and puts together the most creative outfits on a budget..She also has awesome DIY projects.

Ballet flats- Target-$12 (winter 2007)
Jeans-Bitten (from the now defunct Steve and Barry's)-$14 (spring 2007)
Aqua-y short sleeve cowl kneck sweater-$12 F21 (Winter 2008)
Long open black sweater-$16-F21 (winter 2008)
Earrings-$3-H&M (March 2009)

Shop Ruche

Even though I've never purchased a thing from Anthropologie, I just love to look around that store. They have such pretty, dainty and feminine clothes. Looking around that store makes me happy to be a girl. However, it doesn't make me happy to be a on a budget.

Last week my friend Bia itnroduced me to Shop Ruche. I am IN LOVE with this site, as it is reminds me of a budget friendlty Anthropologie. Even the website itself has the same romantic feel as Anthropologie. My friend Bia has ordered from here and assures me of great quality clothing. I can't believe the prices of some of the organic clothing!

Get thee to Shopruche.com ASAP!

Weekend Clothing Haul

Recently, my wardrobe has been feeling less than inspired. I'd like to blame it on the cold weather, but I think it is just me. With in the next couple of days I'll be starting a new series called "Evolution of Style". It'll be all about my quest to find my personal style. I'll take a couple of outfit pics through out the week and I want comments from my ladies on what I could to do to liven the look up. I also think seeing more outfits in a picture will help me see what I really look like and how the world views my outfit choices. Any way, on to my haul.

On Saturday, as noted in my previous haul post, the boyfriend and I went to the Danbury Mall. As I just got my tax refund, I really wanted to spend some cash. Unfortunately, other than my Lush haul, I only got one thing :(

I've been wanting a light weight coat for a while, and I really liked this coat from H&M. For $35, you can't beat it.

Most of my wardrobe is all pretty dark and consists of solids. I'm trying to start wearing more bright colors and patterns. I know white isn't really considered a daring color, but for me? Trust me, it is!

Monday I had a snow day. My mom also stayed home from work and when it stopped snowing and we cleared off the car we went down to our local T.J. Maxx. Now, I'm a fan of T.J. Maxx and Marshalls, but I really have to be in the mood to shop there. If you're not in the mood or have the time or patience to look through tons of racks, than this isn't the store for you.

Ok, so I know this isn't exactly bright, and black fits in with most of my current wardrobe, but this light weight cotton ruffle front dress was too cute! Especially for $16, it just couldn't be passed up. I could add some color with accessories or wear it as a tunic with bright leggings.

I've recently, along with many others I'm sure, have become addicted to scarves. If I do find myself wearing a rather plan outfit, than one of these will be guaranteed to liven it up while giving it a summery vibe as well. These were both $9.99 each.

Lush Haul

I've been reading about Lush from many a beauty blogger lately. I've never been to Lush, but have been studying the website religiously lately. My face care regimen has just not been working lately, and I wanted to try something natural.

I was really excited when my boyfriend and I decided to take a mini trip to the Danbury Fair Mall this weekend and they had a Lush store! I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted, but still wanted some info from the sales associate.

The sales associate was super nice and helpful, but a bit too pushy for my liking. I said I liked the smell of one thing and she then brought me pretty much everything in the store that smelled like it. Woah, slow down there lady!

The deal on the website is spend $65 plus and get a free Angels on Bare Skin, but in the store it was spend only $40.

My haul includes (minus the T for Toes Dusting Powder for the beau):

Sweet Japanese Girl Cleanser

I really wanted something to combat my dry skin, and also tone down my break outs I've been having lately. She reccomended this, and I really like bar cleansers. It smells good and it feels good on the skin.

Breath of Fresh Air Spray Toner

This stuff smells so good and feels good on, but I HATE the spray bottle it came in. I wanted something of a mist and instead it just squirts me in the cheek. Will be switching to a new bottle soon.

Hybrid Solid Shampoo

My hair, along with my face, has been super dry lately. The sales associate reccomended this combo shampoo and conditioner. I usually hate combos, but I love them in bar form for some reason. It's just good to have when I want to get in and out of the shower quickly.

My freebie Angels on Bare Skin

This is a pretty decent size freebie if you ask me! I know this is a cleanser, but I've read that most bloggers use it a couple of times a week as an exfoliator. I'm glad, because it's too much work for me to make the paste and slap it on every week lol.

Expect a review in a few weeks after I see how my skin reacts to it. From the first two days though, I'm loving this stuff!
