TAG-5 Cute Things

I've seen a couple of Youtubers make videos on the 5 cutest things in their room. I decided to jump on the bandwagon.

1: Sex and the City "poster"

This is the pride and joy of my room. I say "poster" because this was an ad from a subway station in NYC. It's HUGE and thick cardboard. It took my mom and I forever to hang this baby up lol. This was a going away present for my freshman year in college from my best friend Anthony. I didn't even dare to take this to college because I didn't trust anyone with it. Can you tell I'm Carrie obsessed?

2: Cinderella Plaque

"One shoe can change your life". I love that line! This was a Christmas present from my bff from college. She knows how obsessed I am with shoes and that Cinderella is my favorite Disney princess. I love this plaque!

3: NYC Picture and Quote

"They say nothing lasts forever. Trends change, dreams come and go, but friendships never go out of style." Another Sex and the City item and another gift! My friend Ally gave this to me this year for Christmas. I'm the only one out of our group who wants to move out of New York, so she made me this so I will always have New York with me. I love it.

4: Hanging Joe Paterno

Joe Paterno is Penn State's football coach. At Penn State, he is pretty much God. I love Joe Paterno, I call him my grandpa lol. Jason got me this one random day senior year. I came home to find a little Joe Paterno sitting on my bed. Some girls like flowers, some girls like plastic Joe Paterno's lol.

5: Frame with quote

My favorite song to describe my relationship with Jason is "Thank God I Found You" by Mariah Carey, 98 Degrees and Joe. I love the lyrics. The first summer Jason and I were together we went to visit my Grandma in Cape Cod. It was his first time in the ocean and we just had such a great time. I made this quite ghetto looking frame with our names and a verse from the song. This decorated my room from sophomore to senior year and now my room at home. It looks so ghetto, but I will take this everywhere with me.

I am taking anyone and everyone! Leave a comment with a link if you do this- I love to see other people's rooms and stuff!

My ELF Faves

Last week, my girlie Tammy made a video of her fave ELF products. Click here for the vid. She totally inspired me to make a post about my fave ELF products.

I'm sure most of you are quite familiar with ELF, but if not, ELF stands for Eyes, Lips, Face. Their products are sold online at eyeslipsface.com or at select Targets. They seem to be sold at every friggin Target except mine! Their products range in price from $1.00 for the standard line, to $6.00 for some of their studio products. For being so cheap, I am QUITE impressed with most of their products.

Here are some of my faves:

Brightening eye color-$1.00

From top left to bottom right:
Drama, Silver lining, Luxe, Butternut, Punk Funk

These little palettes are awesome! Their pigmentation is super impressive, especially over a base. Most of them I use over my NYX jumbo pencil in milk or cottage cheese. They are mostly matte shades and blend really well. For a dollar, the palettes are really all you need for an eye look: lid shade, crease shade, liner shade and highlight.

Duo Eye Shadow Cream- $1.00

Butter Pecan

I use this with a lot of my brown and neutral looks for a base. Their consistency is quite creamy and if used in a thin layer and with a primer underneath, remain pretty crease free throughout the day. I only have one of these and I'd like to purchase a few more. Especially the black and silver one to use for a smokey eye.

Waterproof Eyeliner Pen- $1.00

Black

I have two liquid liner pens: one from ELF and one from Revlon. I use both of them all the time and their quality is almost identical. This liquid liner pen has a thin felt tip and the liner itself goes on quite smoothly. It really is waterproof too, it doesn't smudge a bit once it's on.

Studio Line Bronzer- $3.00

Golden Bronzer

I ADORE this bronzer. It photographs a bit shimmery, but it goes on almost glowy. This is my everyday winter bronzer. When I don't want to look super tan, but I want my skin to have some color. I use this in the 3 and backward 3 motion.

Studio Line Under Eye Concealer and Highlighter- $3.00

Glow/fair

This is my everyday work under eye concealer. This has light to medium coverage so I only use it when I've had a good night sleep the night before. I put the highlighter in the inner and outer corner of my eyes, blend and then put the concealer on type. Most people would put the highlighter on top, but this is a little too shimmery, so I use the concealer to tone it down.

Super Glossy Lip Shine- $1.00

Juiced Berry

I have these glosses in several different shades, but this shade is my favorite. It's super glossy and shimmery and reminds me of watermelon lips lol. It's a bit slippery, so I do have to reapply quite frequently, but for a dollar, I don't mind. The color is quite sheer, it reminds me a bit of those L'Oreal Juice Gems. They are moisturizing and has SPF 15, so they are perfect for the summer!

Mechanical Eyelash Tool- $1.00

I haven't used a lot of lash curlers, but after buying this one, I don't see the need to purchase a more expensive one. This is so gentle and it works perfectly!

Studio Line Complexion Brush- $3.00

If it's one thing that I am super impressed with from the Elf, it's their brushes. This complexion brush is only 3 bucks and it works amazingly! I put on my Revlon Colorstay foundation with my fingers and then use this brush to smooth everything out and blend it all in. It gives me a flawless, streak free finish.

Studio Line Powder Brush- $3.00

I really love the density of this brush. I use this with my finishing powder or when I wear mineral foundation. For mineral foundation, this brush is just awesome. I like this better than any of the Bare Minerals brushes that came with my mineral foundation set.

Eyeshadow Brush- $1.00

If you regularly read beauty blogs or watch beauty videos on Youtube, you have no doubt heard about the awesome-ness of this brush! It's $1.00 yet it is just great to use as a lid brush. I have a few of them and for a dollar each, why not??

With all of the products that I've tried from ELF, which is not all of them, there are only two products that I am not super thrilled with. I have tried a few of their regular eyeliners and was not impressed at all. They would tug on my eyelid and I just didn't like the waxy consistency. This was a year or so ago, I don't know if they have changed the formulation since then.

The second item is the corrective concealer palette. I like to use corrective concealers on my breakouts and under my eyes. I use the green for my breakouts and the peach for my undereyes. The peach works really well and blends so nicely. The green barely shows up and I really have to warm it up in my fingers to get it to blend at all. It's weird how in the same palette one concealer works and the other doesn't!

Overall though, ELF is a great way to play and experiment with make up for very little money!

Gym Bag Essentials- The Bare Minimum

It's about that time of year where I step up my work out game. It's almost bathing suit season and I'm not even happy enough with my body to try bathing suits on, let alone strut the beach with one.

I wanted to do a post about gym necessities whether you work out at home, outside or at the gym. I'm getting to the point where I work out outside, so I keep this bag in my car stocked up.

Gym Bag-Adidas from Modell's or any Sporting Goods Store:

Tips in picking out a gym bag:
-Look for nylon or another easily cleaned material. This bag I can just wipe off if it gets dirty.
-Look for a bag with a shoulder strap-it's easier to carry.

Clothes:
Shorts or pants
Athletic Socks
Appropriate sneakers
Tank top with support
Sports bra

Tips for picking out work-out gear:
-Shop for work out clothes that are form fitting and wick away moisture. It's important to wear something fitted so you can see results and also check if you have proper form. Wicking away moisture- well self explinatory lol.
-Invest in sports bras!! Opt for racer-back options as they have more support. For women with larger busts, stick to molded cups to avoid the uni-boob look.
-Try to stick with racer-back tops to provide even more coverage. I'm a bit on the busty side so I stick with a perfectly fitting sports bra and a racer back tank with a built in bra.
-Invest in sneakers for any type of exercising you do! They are so important to maintain your health and keep you injury free. I have cross-trainers for when I go on my bike, do an aerobic video or lift weights and running sneakers. Replace your shoes regularly.
-Use athletic socks, not just any old socks. Socks should fit properly and if possible, also have moisture wicking materials.

Toiletries

These are the bare necessities-not pictured: a non-slip scrunchie and headband
-Deodorant with antipersperant- use this before and after your work outs. Look for clear or ones that don't leave a residue. No one likes to see white pits as they are lifting or doing ab work.
-Body refreshing spray- I picked this up from VS Pink. This spray is not just a body spray, but actually cleanses your body too and refreshes you. I hate using showers at the gym, never have-never will, so this is temporary fix.
-Contact case- I find it easier to work out in contacts because my glasses bounce about.
-Hair brush- DUH!
-Make up cleansing towlette- I hate working out in make up due to all the sweat, so I wipe my face down with one of these before hand or than just splash my face thoroughly with water when I'm done.

Now get fit!

Giveaway-For my Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte or Miranda's

Image from Google

This is not your typical giveaway, but I am so excited to be able to offer this to my readers. As a New Yorker, I don't like doing tourist-y stuff. The first time I went to the Empire State Building or the Statue of Liberty was when I was 20 and it's because I took Jason, because he was a tourist lol.

There was one tourist-y thing I almost did though and that was to go on the Sex and the City tour. However, since I know where most of the places were I just took myself on the tour. I can't tell you how many times I've been at Magnolia Bakery (the BEST cupcakes everrrr) and saw the Sex and the City tour bus come in with people just so excited and it made me so excited.

I am THRILLED to be able to offer my readers TWO free tickets to the Sex and the City Hotspots Tour. Click here for more information!! This giveaway is for the SATC tour, but check out the site for many other NY TV and Movie tours!

Some of the tour highlights include:

Shop at the store where Charlotte bought her "Rabbit"
Stop at "Scout," the bar owned by Aidan
Enjoy cupcakes like Carrie and Miranda
Go on location to the art gallery in SoHo where Charlotte worked
Shop at the hottest boutiques & stores in Greenwich Village
Visit Buddakan, site of Carrie and Big’s wedding rehearsal dinner
See new locations from Sex and the City: the Movie

This contest is open to anyone and the tickets never expire! PLEASE only enter if you live in or around NYC or are planning a trip here. I don't want these tickets to go to waste.

To enter:
*Be a Fabulously Thrifty Subscriber
*Leave me a comment with your fave Sex and the City quote in it and a way to contact you.
*This contest is open until next Sunday, April 11th at Midnight EST.
*Comment as many times as you like- but you have to use different quotes.
*Winner will be chosen using Random.org

My fave Sex and the City Quote:
"When did it stop being fun and start being scary?"

There are some dirty ones that are my fave, but I'll keep those private lol.

Review: Skintimate Moisturizing Cream Shave for Dry Skin

Ahh..this weekend's projected temperatures are in the 70's so it's time for capris and dresses again, just in time for Easter!! In a panic I ran to CVS to get a brand new razor and some shave cream. I picked up whatever shave cream was on sale and boy- am I glad this was!

Product description from Drugstore.com:

Skintimate® introduces a whole new way to shave. This new mild, dye-free cream, made especially for sensitive skin, creates a cushion for that extra protection from nicks and cuts while rich moisturizers give you the ultimate feeling of hydration. Experience the difference of shaving with a cream and your legs will feel noticeably softer.

I don't have super dry legs, but they weren't exactly like buttah after this winter either. This stuff is AMAZING. You literally do not need to put on lotion afterwards if you were in a rush.

The thing I needed to get used to was that it DOES NOT foam. I didn't read this at first and kept putting more and more product on my leg and was like WTF?! All you need is a very thin layer, so this baby should last a while. If you've ever shaved with hair conditioner in a pinch, this is kind of what that feels like, just very emolient and creamy.

To open it you just pull the little flower out:

The product itself:

Price range: $3-$5
Where to buy: Any drugstores, Target, Walmart, Drugstore.com
Would I buy again?: Yes, and I will be buying it- all summer!

FTC Disclaimer: Product was purchased by me. I am not affiliated with Skintimate in anyway.
