Urthbox #2

Today I received my second Urthbox and even though I'm unfamiliar with half of the items, I am super psyched and pleased with this month's box.  If you aren't sure what an Urthbox is, click here.

Here is what I got in this month's Urthbox.  If you have tried any of these items are have suggestions on how to use them, please comment below!

Sweet Snacks
*NewTree Orange Pearls- Chocolate Covered Orange Slices- YUM!
*Caveman Cookies- This is a paleo cookie, I'm still a tad unsure on what paleo is, but for 60 calories I'll try the cookie.
*Natural Delights Medjool Dates- I have never actually had a date, but a lot of healthy dessert recipes I've looked up have dates as a sweetener ingredient in them, so I'm excited to utilize these.
*Hail Merry Choco Macaroons- I love macaroon cookies and I am definitely excited to try these!
*Unreal Peanut Chocolate Nouget Bars- As much as I love peanut butter, I am actually not a fan of peanuts.  So I'll be giving these away.
*SunRype Fruit Strip- I've tasted a few fruit strips from Trader Joes and loved them.  Can't wait to try these Strawberry Watermelon ones.

 Salty and Savory
*LaTortille Factory Low Carb Whole Wheat Tortillas- These I was actually super psyched to get.  These tortillas are touted as one of the healthiest and low cal wraps.  I think I'm going to use these to make some freezer breakfast wraps.
*Elianni Vegan Pate- Ok, I am not quite sure what pate is, especially vegan pate.  I can't say whether I am actually going to try this or not, as I'm a bit freaked by it.
*Curry Crunch Sweet and Sour Trail Mix- I have learned to love a lot of different trail mixes, so I'm excited to try this sweet and sour version.

  Drinks and Misc.
*Deeply Rooted Roots Blueberry Flavor- This is actually pretty cool.  It's a drink mix that consists of pretty much every nutrient, fruit and vegetable you can imagine.  I'm not a blueberry fan, but I definitely want to try this.
*Bach Rescue Pearls Natural Stress Relief Capsules- These I am super intrigued by!  There are times where I just can't handle my stress, and it'll be nice to try out a natural treatment.
*Organic Turmeric Drink with Cinnamon- This one was an oddball for me.  Can't say that I have ever heard of a turmeric drink.  Turmeric is touted for it's disease fighting properties.  I don't know what the hell to expect from this, but I will definitely try it.

This box doesn't contain a list of product information and prices, so I'm not quite sure about the retail value of this box, but I can pretty much guarantee it's more than the cost of the box itself!

Have you ever tried Urthbox?

Current Empties

Man, I feel so good finishing up a product- especially a product from my collection of non-cruelty free products.  I can't wait until I hit pan on a blush or bronzer, that's like unheard of for me!

*The Body Shop Coconut Lip Butter- I did actually really like this stuff, but I'm just not a big fan of lip products in pots.  The idea of applying this with my finger just doesn't seem as sanitary as applying a lip balm from a tube.

*Josie Maran Argan Illuminizer- I have to say, I really liked this stuff.  It's a bit pricey, so I don't know if I would repurchase, but if I can't find another cruelty free liquid highlighter I like- this is the one!

*Physicians Formula Conceal RX Concealer- This stuff is heavy duty, good stuff.  It's comparable to Hard Candy's Glamoflauge.  It's great applied lightly as underye concealer and applied to blemishes.  This will definitely be a repurchase for me.

*Japanese Underye Patches- Oh these things are the BombDotCom!  I've written about these before here.

*Jane Iredale Magic Mitt- This is an alternative to makeup removing wipes.  It's obviously not empty, but it doesn't get clean anymore so I think it's time for a new one.  This will be a repurchase for me, because believe it or not, this mitt does work!

*Yes to Cucumbers Cleansing Towlettes- These are great!  I love the scent of these and they remove almost everything.  They have a bit of trouble thoroughly removing eye makeup, but most of these towelettes do as well.  These will definitely be a repurchase for me.

*Absolute Pomegranate Extract Makeup Towlettes- I think I got these in an Ipsy bag.  They work decently at taking off makeup, but the smell is just HORRIBLE!  They smell like cherry cough syrup gone bad.

*Michael Todd Jojoba Charcoal Scrub- I also received this in an Ipsy bag and I was really a big fan.  This travel sized item lasted me a few months while while using it a few times a week.  I have already purchased a different scrub by Alba Botanica, but if it doesn't work for me I will most likely go back to this one.

*Origins A Perfect World Daily Moisturizer- I was trying to make my way through some of my sample/travel size items.  I used this is a morning moisturizer and it worked pretty decently, but nothing amazing to justify the price.

*Olay Ultra Moisture Body Wash- This was from my collection of non-cruelty free products and while it did leave my skin nicely moisturized, there wasn't anything wowzers about it.

*Aussie Sprunch Wave Spray- This bottle is actually almost full, but it's still going in the trash.  The spray itself is horrible and creates just random sections of sticky and crunchy mess.

*Living Proof Full Shampoo- From just the shampoo alone, I didn't notice any additional volume in my hair.  When used in conjunction with the some of the Living Proof volumizing products I noticed a difference, but I really don't think the shampoo had anything to do with it.

*Yankee Candle Magical Frosted Forest Candle- LOVE this candle.  It smells like Christmas- no other way to put it.

Sunday Funday=Sunday Spa Day

It's finally starting to get warm again in New York, which means Sunday Funday will soon be in effect.  However, the past few months were so brutal that most Sundays were spent hibernating inside and watching Law & Order:SVU marathons.  I thought I might as well make my Sunday's productive, so Sunday became my spa/pampering day.  I thought I would give you a glimpse into my pampering routine and my favorite spa products.

About an hour before I go into the shower, I begin my spa day process.  After thoroughly brushing out my hair, I take a tablespoon of coconut oil and coat my hair from about the ears down.  Then I take a tablespoon amount of Lush's Roots Hair Treatment and massage it into my scalp for about 2-3 minutes. I love how tingly this stuff feels.  Then it's time to throw up this mop into a messy bun.

When it's time to shower, I use Big Shampoo to wash everything out.  I feel like after using these heavy masks, I want to use a good shampoo to get everything out.

When I hop into the shower, I use a body scrub,  I have really been loving this sugar scrub in the vanilla scent from Bath and Body Works.  I pay particular attention to my knees, elbows and heels since they tend to be drier than the rest of my body.

Post shower, I moisturize all over with a body butter.  About once a month I use these hand and foot masks that I get from my local Asian supermarket.  If you do only one pampering treatment, I totally recommend one of these masks.  My feet feel so rejuvenated afterwards and my hands look amazingly bright.

After I wash my face and exfoliate in the shower I use my Body Shop Honey & Oat Exfoliating Mask. This is a great thick scrub like mask.  After the scrub mask, I follow up with this Body Shop Vitamin E Sink In Mask to replenish the moisture in my super dry skin.
During allergy season my eyes always look super blah, so I have been loving these under eye masks that can also be purchased at your local Asian supermarket.  If you have never tried an eye mask, I totally recommend it as you really do feel pampered afterwards.

Sunday is time to catch up on all of your reading and trashy tv show watching.  Also, try to drink a lot of water during your pampering sesh.  You're getting rid of a lot of gunk in your body, why replace it with soda or fruit juices?

Optional, Mickey t-shirt!

What are your spa day essentials?  I'm always looking for new products to pamper myself with!

Lucky Vitamin Haul

First, my apologies for being away so long.  I wish I could say life got in the way or I was dating some fabulous new guy, but that would be BS. The truth is, I came down with the itis, otherwise known as just being lazy.  With the resurgence of warmer weather though, I hope to be back to my only mildly lazy self soon!
♥ ♥

A few weeks ago I got a Living Social email advertising a deal for a $24 gift certificate to for only $12.  Lucky Vitamin is similar to Vitacost so I snapped up the certificate right away to order some products I have been hearing about recently.

This deal is still available! Click here to snag it up!

Here is what I picked up!

Hair Stuff

Giovanni LA Hold Hair Spritz Max Hold Travel Size- $2.08
Giovanni Natural Mousse Air-Turbo Charged Hair Styling Foam-$4.99

I have read a lot about Giovanni hair products and these are the first two (other than shampoo or conditioner) I will be trying.  I needed a new mousse and a firm hold hairspray so I'm hoping both of these work out because they are more on the natural side and super cheap.

Skin Care/Makeup
Giovanni Facial Cleansing Towelettes in Unscented-$4.99
Herban Cowboy Superstar Deodorant For Her-$5.99
Honeybee Gardens Truly Natural Mascara in Black Magic-$8.75
Honeybee Gardens Jojoba Eyeliner in Brown Sugar- $4.41

I am in the market for new facial cleansing towelettes and I have heard TONS of great reviews about the wipes from this brand.
As previously stated, I am a sweaty gal and still on the hunt for the perfect natural deodorant.  I have high hopes for this one.
These two Honeybee Gardens products were just sort of add ons.  While I really like my Physicians Formula mascara, I wanted to try another more natural mascara.  As for the liner, I have been looking for a brown eyeliner but this is a bit lighter than I wanted.

 Snacks and Vitamins
Lucky Vitamin Brand One Daily Energy Vitamins
Chia Bar in Coffee, Chocolate Peanut Butter and Apple Cinnamon

I have never taken a vitamin for energy purposes and hope this will help with the "itis".  As for the chia bars, I wish I could remember what Youtuber I saw these from, but I was super intrigued!  The flavors sounded great and they are only 100 calories.

I have to say, I am pretty impressed with  I placed my order on Wednesday night and received it today (Saturday) and shipping was only $5.95.  I find prices to be on par with Vitacost, just the site isn't as easy to navigate.

Has anyone else ever ordered from

Graze Snack Box..yup- another food box!

In case you haven't noticed, I have been all about the sample boxes lately.  So many companies offer a first box free, so why not try it out!

The latest box I've tried is the Graze Box.  Graze is another healthy type of snack box and can be delivered monthly, bi-weekly or even weekly in some locations.  What I really like about this box is that the snacks come pre-portioned, so no over snacking (can still happen with healthy snacks!).  While the Urthbox is a box with products by a variety of companies, this box is sort of like a select not of products that could be sold in bulk at your local Whole Foods.

It's $6.00, which is pretty damn good considering the quality of some of these snacks, and you can be surprised by what items are going to be in the box or pick them yourselves.  Since this was my first foray, I decided to be surprised.

Top L- Triple Berry Smoothie
110 calories
Mini Strawberries, blueberries, cranberries and banana coins
SO Delish and I don't even like blueberries or cranberries.

Top R- Tomato & Basil Pizza
120 calories
Basil Crunchini, Mini Tomato Breadsticks and Cheese Cashews
Again a hit!  The cashews are a bit odd to me, but the rest is super yummy and savory.

Bottom L- Honeycomb Crunch
180 calories
Milk chocolate covered honeycomb, almonds and raisins
This one was a fail to me as I don't like raisins.  The almonds were perfect though and the honeycombs were ok.

Bottom R- Apple and Cinnamon Flapjack
240 calories
Rustic rolled oat flapjack with apple and cinnamon
This was a bit high in the calorie department for a snack, but having just one as a little dessert after lunch or dinner is perfect.  These are so yummy.

All in all, I have to say I'm pretty pleased with this box and will continue to get it for a bit.  I opted to get this once every four weeks and am excited to continue snacking with Graze.

With my box came a code for my friends to get their first and fifth box free at  The code is:

Silk Naturals Haul

As I've been watching more and more natural beauty videos, I've been hearing about Silk Naturals more and more.  I decided to place an order to test out the brand a variety of their products.  I love that they offer sample sizes (and not baggies) for so many of their products!

Cream Products

Slick Stick in St. Tropez- $4.50
Kiss Slicker in Rare Berry (flavored lip gloss)- $4.50
Cream Blush in Amuse- $4.50
Pucker Polish Lip Scrub-  $3.75

St. Tropez
Rare Berry
Cream Blush in Amuse

HOLY Pigmentation!!  These cream products are amazing and I love the shine that the lip products give.  Can't wait to see how these wear on the lips.

Face Products and One Eye Product

Eye color in Meme-soft lavender- Free
Bronzer in Tahiti Sweetie (dupe for Benefit's Hoola)- $1.25
Blush in Climax (dupe for Nar's Orgasm)- $1.25
Halo sample- Free
HD Peach Concealer Sample (dupe for Eve Pearl's Salmon)- $0.99
Cream Concealer in Shade 2 Sample- $0.99
N30 HD Foundation Sample- $0.99
N20 HD Foundation Sample- $0.99

Meme Shadow
Tahiti Sweetie Bronzer
Climax Blush

The pigmentation on the bronzer is amazing!!  But the shadow and the blush leave A LOT for the imagination.  Yes, I do have the blush swatted to the left of the bronzer.  Can't see it? Neither can I!  Of course I'll play around with it, but it appears that the clear winner of this bunch is the bronzer!

Silk Naturals is a brand that I plan on purchasing more lip colors from and hopefully some full size face products as well.  I just can't jump on the loose shadow bandwagon just yet.

Have you ever tried anything from Silk Naturals?  Any recommendations?

Cheap Kicks

I have been on quite the fitness roar lately.  I have been doing T25 almost every day for 5 weeks.  About 3 weeks in my ankles begin bothering me because of all the jumping.  It was definitely time for new sneakers, but they are so damn expensive.

Do you know where you can always find sneakers that are cheaper?  The kids section!  Most major fitness brands now make a variety of sneakers for kids ranging from trainers, running and cross fit.  The rule of thumb for women is to go down 2 sizes.  I am a size 6.5 in women, and got these amazing 4.5 kids sneakers for only $20!!

Have you ever bought anything in the kids section for yourself?

March Random Favorites

March was a month of dietary ups and downs for me, so most of my random favorites of the month are food related.  Two are "healthyish", while one is downright decadent.

Food Favorites

*Timothy's Cinnamon Pastry K- Cup- I've been on the hunt for a dessert tasting coffee, so I ordered a few sample boxes from Keurig of different coffees.  This cinnamon bun inspired coffee has been the standout so far.  The cinnamon taste is subtle, but it tastes so much more decadent than what it really is.

*Arbonne Essentials Fit Chews in Chocolate- I bought these from Amazon to use as a little nosh between meals.  They are little chocolate chews, 30 calories each, that claim to suppress appetite and give an extra boost of energy.  I don't know if they do either, but they keep me going in the morning and give me a little healthy bite of chocolate.

*Talenti Gelato in Chocolate Peanut Butter- Oh. My. God.  This is the most amazing stuff I have ever tasted.  I bought this on sale for $7 at Mrs. Greens, and it was worth every dollar.  I can't wait to try more gelatos from this brand!

Favorite Reads

*Chocolate Covered Katie-  I found this healthy dessert blog through the Blogilates App and it's awesome.  The recipes that she has come up with are just amazing.  I especially love the single serving section, so I won't be tempted to eat an entire pie or batch of cookies in one sitting.

*Delirium- Ok, I am sorting of cheating, because I am still in the process of finishing this book, but I did start it in March!  This book is recommended to the fans of Hunger Games or Divergent.  It's such a good read!

Favorite "Watches"

*The BubbleGum Princess- I have been loving her channel this month!  She's an amazing cruelty free beauty vlogger and I have learned so much about a variety of products and brands from her.  She has added significantly to my product wish list.
