March Favorites

March is the month that is supposed to come in like a lion and go out like a lamb.  Well, it came in like a lion and considering it was snowing this morning, it went out like a lion as well.  To all of my North Eastern girls, am I the only one who feels like we will never see spring again?

Anywho, here are my March beauty faves!

Shop my March Favorites HERE
♥ Physicians Formula Organic Wear Jumbo Lash Mascara- This mascara is really fantastic!  It's great for everyday wear and even works well on bottom lashes.  The brush is rather large, but I don't have a problem with that.

♥ Real Techniques Multi Task Brush- This is the brush I have been using to apply my mineral foundation as a sort of finishing powder.  This brush is so insanely soft and applies powder products beautifully.  I am really hooked on Real Techniques Brushes.

♥ Fortune Cookie Soap Marshmallow Dreams Cuticle Cream- I received this in my Fortune Cookie Soap box last month and it's a great cuticle cream.  It feels more like a thick balm and it really moisturizes my dry cuticles.  Bonus points for it smelling AMAZING!

♥ Cake Beauty's Be Delectable Strawberry & Cream Hand Cream- I think I received this in an Ipsy bag and WOW- it is amazing!!  It's not only super moisturizing without a greasy feeling, it smells like heaven.  This I will be repurchasing.

♥ NYX Single Shadow in Space- I've had this shadow for so long and reached for it one day randomly to use as a shadow liner.  Wow- is it beautiful!  This works as a beautiful soft shadow liner and looks great on hazel eyes.

What beauty products were you guys reaching for this month?

Review: Physicians Formula Youthful Wear Concealer

A month or so ago I bought the Physicians Formula Youthful Wear Cosmeceutical Youth Boosting Spotless Concealer (what a mouthful!) from CVS.  While the few reviews I've read weren't too fond of it, I actually enjoy the product.

I've been using this as a sort of base for my under eye concealers.  I have very pink/purple circles under my eyes so the light coverage this concealer gives is not enough, but when I add a tiny dab of my Physicians Formula Circle RX Concealer it creates the perfect combo!

For the purpose of this review, I used only the Youthful Wear Concealer so you could see the coverage and lasting power of this specific product.

No Product= Lovely circles

Right After Application

 After 8 hours of wear

I really like this concealer, and I think even on its own it does a pretty decent job of covering dark circles.  For people with lighter circles, this may be all you need.

The concealer is a very wet concealer, and does take a bit to set so be careful.  It is also a bit on the yellow-y side, so keep that in mind!

Now I have never tried this concealer anywhere else on my face other than under my eyes, so I can't speak to how it performs on blemishes or discoloration.  Normally for those skin concerns I like a thicker concealer.

All in all, this brand is ALWAYS on sale and I think it's a great under eye concealer for the price!

Pros:
♥ Light to medium coverage
♥ Very affordable
♥ Widely accessible
♥ Blends easily

Cons:
● May not be enough coverage for dark circles
● Doesn't set quickly
● May be too yellow for some skin tones

Would I repurchase?:
Definitely!

My First Urthbox

A few weeks ago Gilt City had a deal for Urthbox.  I have been looking to try a natural snack subscription box for quite a while now, and the Gilt City deal was too good to pass up.  The deal was a 3 month subscription for $39.  Considering the box is normally $25 a month, this was a great buy!

The Urthbox comes in 4 different varieties: Classic, Gluten-free, Vegan or Diet.  Considering I am watching the calories nowadays, I went with the diet variety.

On Saturday I received my first box, and I was pleasantly surprised!

I loved how the box was packaged, and it even came with two $10 gift certificates for the Urthbox store, which I can use to purchase items that were in this box or previous boxes.  What I felt it was missing though, was a detailed description card.  I like boxes that come with information about each product and their prices.

Snacks

*Bejanfields Bean & Rice Chips in Pico De Gallo
*Viana Picnicker Veggie Snack Sausage To Go- Is this really a vegan Slim Jim? Amazing!
*Shelton's JalapeƱo Turkey Smoked Snack Stick- I'm hoping this is good, because at only 45 calories it appears to be a great snack.
*Snapea Crisps 100 Calorie Pack- I already know I love these- and I'm so happy to see they come in 100 calorie packs!
*Licious Organics Honey Cookies Cranberry Almond
*Manitoba Harvest Hemp Hearts- I've heard a lot about Hemp Hearts and these are supposed to be a good topping for cereals or yogurts

Beverages
*NEO Water- This super water is higher in alkaline, electrolytes, and antioxidants than normal water.  I wonder if it alters the taste at all.
*Svelte Cappuccino Organic Protein Shake- I've read a lot about this Svelte brand and I like these protein shakes that are already made.

Misc.

*Spatone Pur Absorb Iron- This is basically a liquid iron supplement.  I've never heard of something like this, so I'm going to do some research before trying it.
*Salba Chia Boost- I think this is just a package of chia seeds, which I use and love.
*Eco-Dent Natural Oral Care Products- Gum, mouthwash and Toothpaste samples
*Kelapo Extra Virgin Coconut Oil- I LOVE coconut oil and always love to try new brands of it.

All in all, I have to say I'm pretty pleased with my first Urthbox and I can't wait to receive next months.

Have any of you ever subscribed to Urthbox?  Any good healthy snack box recommendations?

Natural-ish Haul

A month or so ago a huge Mrs. Greens market opened down the street from me.  Mrs. Greens is very similar to a Whole Foods.  When I first went in I didn't expect a big health and beauty section, but I was pleasantly surprised.  They had a nice variety of skincare products, hair care, makeup and health and wellness items.  Their prices are quite high, but last weekend the whole store was 10% off and I decided to pick up a few products that I would need soon.

As I've written a few times I've been trying to incorporate more natural products into my beauty routine.  Now don't get me wrong, I am not abandoning my Wet and Wild or drugstore loves, but I figure if I could have a large majority of my personal care items being natural, I'm well off!

I have been on the hunt for a yummy and natural protein powder to add into my smoothies.  I can't drink protein powder with just water and milk, I seriously don't know how people do it!  These little sample packs are a great way to try out the taste of the powders without buying the huge container.  I got the echolocate powder, the tropical fruit and a flavorless nutritional shake.

I also stocked up on some skin care and hair care items that I would be running out of shortly.

The four mini bottles are from Giovanni and came from the Giovanni Flight Attendant Kit in Tea Tree Oil.  The kit came with a shampoo, conditioner, body wash and body lotion.  I'm glad I get to try out mini size of these products to see if I like them enough to purchase full size products.

Next is my Alba Botanica Hawaiian Moisture Cream with Jasmine and Vitamin E.  I'm running out of my day cream so I picked up this little guy to give it a try.  I've never tried any Alba Botanica products, but I've always heard good things about this brand and it's one of the most affordable natural brands so I'm hoping I like this.

I'm running low on my Michael Todd scrub so I picked up this Alba Botanica Even Advanced Sea Algae Enzyme Scrub.  I love the packaging on this scrub and I've read very good things about the Even Advanced line.

I picked up the night cream from the Even Advanced line which states to reduce the appearance of dark spots and discolorations in 2 weeks.  That's a pretty big claim, but I'm excited to see if it works!

Have you tried any natural products or brands lately?  I'm looking to test out a few natural brands to find some products that really work for me!

Beauty Scenario Tag

This past week I was watching the Beauty Scenario Tag by Juicystar07 and I knew it was a tag I had to do- so I tagged myself!

1. You have to get rid of all your foundations and you can only keep one high end and one drugstore, which do you keep?

**For my high end foundation I would keep the Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation because it provides the best coverage and I love the feel of it.  For drugstore I would pick a new favorite- the PF CC + Cream!  This baby gives amazing coverage.

2. You go for an interview and the lady interviewing you has lipstick on her teeth. Do you approach the subject or ignore it completely?

**For an interview I would definitely ignore it.  You never know how people are going to take that!

3. You're not feeling yourself and need a pick me up. Which lipstick do you put on to make yourself feel beautiful?

**I'm not a lipstick person so I would use a juicy looking lipgloss.  I don't have any in particular.

4. You go back in time for a day to your teenage years, how would you do your hair and makeup differently?

**Ummm…I would do my hair and makeup!  I always looked a hot mess and way too natural!

5. You ask your hairdresser for a shoulder length Pixie Lott hair cut, but they hear wrong and give you a pixi cut. Do you a) Smile, say thank you, leave and call your mum hysterical b) Cry in the chair and things get awkward or c) Complain to the manager and demand a refund.

**OMG- this sounds horrible!  I would definitely cry and bitch to the manager.  They better specialize in extensions and fix that!

6. Your friend surprises you with a 4 day city break and you have 1 hour to pack. Which 'do it all' palette do you pack in your makeup bag?

**I seriously need to invest in some palettes that have eye and face colors in it because I don't have any!  My go to travel palette is my UD Naked Palette.  I guess there's a few colors I could use a contour or highlight in a pinch.

7. Your house has been robbed, don't worry everyone is safe, but your beauty stash has been raided. What's the product you really hope is safe?

**There's no product that was super pricey or super sentimental to me.  Can I say I hope my flat iron is safe?

8. Your friend borrows your makeup and returns it in awful condition. Do you a) Just pretend you haven't noticed b) Ask them to repurchase it or c) Secretly do the same to something of theirs

**I would call them out on it and hope that they bring up the idea to repurchase the items or give me money.  If not, I would probably just bitch about them inside my head.
