Shock Boutique!!

I was contacted by Jill, the owner of Shock Boutique, to check out her site. I love supporting etailers, and Shock Boutique offers some super cute clothes for really great prices! I'm putting together a small shopping list now for when I get some birthday money, because all of my Christmas money went to the outlet and bills!

My fave feature is the shop by celeb feature. It features some great celebs and items that the store has that match their look in the photo or their style.

I'm really loving the zipper tees a la Kim Kardashian and Meghan Fox and the Grandpa sweater from the High School Musical gals.

Great news ladies! Jill offered a code to my readers! Enter "Thrifty" at checkout to save 25%!

Disclaimer: I was not paid or given anything free for discussing Shock Boutique.

Birthday Lust List

I decided to steal Bombchell's idea and create my own lust list, but since Christmas is only four days away, I'm making it my birthday lust list since it's pretty soon and I'm turning a quarter of a century- BLAH!

I've always been seen as the "good girl" and sometimes I just want to shake that image! I think this may be one way to start!

Carousel Stretch Corest and Carousel Panty from Trashy

A designer pair of shoes- Any super designer- Jimmy Choo, Chanel, Manolo, Prada, Dior..your choice lol
I'm such a shoe whore, but can I really call myself that if I don't own one of the classics?

My Beauty Diary Masks
I've been on such a skin care kick lately. The better the skin, the less make up needed!

Belts, Belts and Belts
I need to cinch my waist while I have one!

Headbands, Headbands and Headbands
I get so friggin lazy with my hair sometimes, but I still want it to look somewhat cute!

A trip to Europe..London and France have been calling my name for QUITE a while!

Clarison MIA- I want to see what all the friggin hype is about!

And finally..the biggest lust item of all, which will only be accepted from one person..........

Diamond and Sapphire Engagement Ring

This is my dream engagement ring with a platnium setting and a larger center stone. There is a very dorky and totally sweet reason why I want a sapphire in my engagement ring. One day.......

Review: Almay One Coat Triple Effect Mascara

A couple of weeks ago I picked up Almay One Coat Triple Effect Mascara to use for an every day mascara. I wear glasses 98% of the time, so I didn't want anything super dramatic- just enough to make my eyes pop a bit under my lenses.

The mascara claims to build, extend and and sculpt lashes. I don't know if it sculpts lashes, but it does extend a bit and builds them. It definitely makes a difference with my glasses on, but for those looking for a dramatic or maybe even a super noticable difference minus glasses, this is not the mascara for you.

::Please do NOT mind my brows. I usually do them Sundays, but I had a killer migraine last night. I'm getting to them tonight.::

With out Mascara

With Mascara

Price: $7-$9
Where to buy: Drugstores, Walmart, Target,
Would I buy again: Yes, it's perfect for my fellow glasses wearers

Rachel Zoe Gift Guide

I'm a subscriber to Rachel Zoe's newsletter and beyond love The Rachel Zoe Project. I'm not even put off by those drawn out words and overuse of her lingo- in fact I'm intrigued by it.

Anywho, so I love the Rachel Zoe newsletter I get in my inbox everyday. Most of the items are WAY beyond my financial reach right now, but she always includes a "Parallel Universe" which is a similar item that is a lot more affordable. For Christmas Rachel put a fab gift guide of all items under $100. Visit here!

Here are some of my fave items on the list:

50 Dresses that Changed the World- $11.70!!

I love "coffee table" books and beyond love fashion books. This sounds so interesting to me and I'm all ready trying to pick out a few- the dress on the cover obviously! Marilyn's white dress, Princess Di's wedding dress...just a few I came up with!

Miele Blanco Diagonal Stitch Tote- $79

I'm really attracted to this bag and think it would make a good work to dinner transition bag with the use of the handle and strap.

Betsey Johnson Kiss Earrings- $25

Look at them!! Need I say more?

Holy Hair Haulage + a Skin Bar

I had two lovely packages waiting for me in the ice cold rain when I got home today! Expect a review for each of these. I'll review the mousse right away, but give the shampoo, conditioner, hair mask and skin bar a couple of weeks usage before I review them.

Advance Techniques Volumizing Collection:
-Body Building Shampoo
-Body Building Conditioner

Advance Techniques Volumizing Mousse

Advance Techniques Intense Repair Moisture Mask (Great to test out in the winter!)

Magix Face Primer (My HG Primer!) I've been using this for about a year, but realized I never reviewed- Review to come!!

Eden Allure :

Eden Allure Argan Oil Beauty Bar with Organic Grapefruit (currently sold out, only lavendar available)

After reading my Tammy's review of this product I just had to give it a whirl. I just finished my "On a Clear Day" wash from Philosophy and while it worked, I wasn't thrilled about the prospect of paying so much for a face wash that just garnered so-so results. I've also wanted to jump on the "organic" bandwagon and Tammy gave me the perfect excuse to try this out. My skin, my chin area especially, has just gone all Civil War on me and had begun to attack itself! I feel like a pre-pubescent boy! So I'm praying this works!

Review: Mark Mega Volume Hairspray

I bought Mark's Mega Volume Hairspray a couple of months ago with high hopes. I really like Mark products and this was the first hair product of theirs that I tried. I've been on a volume kick lately and re-discovered this product in my hair care arsenal, only to be reminded why it got pushed to the back in the first place.

Description from the
Mark website:

Superior-hold formula keeps even the biggest do up and out there yet still feels soft to the touch. Contains soothing geranium and chamomile extracts. 6 fl. oz.

This actually works great as a hairspray to hold an updo or even curls on a windy day, but this is by NO means a volumizing hairspray or does it feel soft to the touch.

First of all, I've always pictured volumizing hairsprays as being in aerosol form so you can get that fine mist needed to tease and add volume. This spray has a regular pump spray.

So that was my first dissapointment. Next is the touchability factor. I think due to the fact that it's not a fine mist spray, it just makes one section hard and sticky. Ewwaaa! I've tried spraying it farther away from my head and then it just does nothing.

The smell does save it a bit, so I won't throw it out completely, but save it for intricate updos, pony tails, or curls that I don't want to move. This product really shouldn't be advertised as a volumizing product.

What I am Thankful For

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, and all though it's not one of my fave holidays (I'm not a turkey gal), it does give me the warm and fuzzies inside. So here are some of the things that I am most thankful for this year:

My family

I am so grateful for my insane, totally dysfunctional family. The fact that my parents are divorced, always makes holidays a bit difficult on me, but I love them. They support me and love me more than I can even ask for. I'm one lucky gal.

Being in love

Being in a long distance relationship isn't easy, but being in love is so worth it. I'm so happy to have Jason in my life and have him love me. There are always ups and downs, but the highs are worth the downs every once in a blue moon.

My friends- my second family

I have such an amazing group of friends that fill my life with SO much laughter. I have friends that I talk to, but never get to see, friends that I see all the time and just the best friends a gal can ask for. They are my self esteem support 24/7.

My journey to become a teacher

After dumping PR in the garbage to become a teacher, I haven't had one regret yet. Quitting my job to PAY to student teach has been the best experience. It is impossible to have a bad day when you have a 23 6 year olds waiting to see you.

Being a New Yorker

LoL, this is a great one isn't it? I haven't been to a lot of places around the country or world, but out of the places I have been to, no place gives me a rush like NYC. I live right outside the city, so I feel like it's a tease, but I love having everyone know where I'm from just by saying the "coffee" or "dog".

And lastly, my corny one for my ladies:

Having a blog and reading my loves' blogs is just a form of therapy for me. I've made so many great friends and i have a place to voice my opinions and to read about other ladies loves and interests.

My Weekend in the A

So last weekend I went down to visit Jason in Atlanta. He's been down there since early September and I haven't seen him since. It was the perfect weekend to go since it was our 5 year anniversary on Saturday. It was also a weekend to see my future apartment and future couch and love seat for the first time!

If you read any of my tweets before I left- you know I'm a psycho totally 100% petrified, have to take xanex to get on a plane, type of flier. I had a really great flight down there (meaning I was PASSED out). On the way back I was not so lucky. It was a smooth flight, but it was my fellow passenger that pissed me off.

I book my flights early so I can get the window seat. I get the window seat so I can 1: immediately close the window thingie and 2: because i tend to sleep to the right, it would be embarassing to pass out on someone next to me. This guy sat next to me with his son and asked if I closed the window thingy. I said yes and explained my fear to him. He asked me why I chose the window seat then and I explained my second answer to him. Well this answer must not have been good enough for him. I passed out and woke up when we began our initial decent to my surprise the window thingy was open! This MAN reached over my sleeping, drugged, fearful body to open the window thing. When I noticed it and almost screamed I looked at him, he was sleeping, and closed it loudly. It bothered me a lot, what can I say?

Anyway, on to the fun stuff.

The apartment is tres cute. It's located in the Dunwoody section of Atlanta. I don't dislike Atlanta, but I'm glad my move there is only temporary. My bf used to joke around and call me a stuck up New Yorker and I would get offended, until I realized it was true. I am a stuck up New Yorker. Being that far away from Ny and being in a place that was truly different, just didn't sit well for me. Please don't hate me my southern bells. I can totally see the appeal, people are nice there lol, rents are HOLY cheap and you get to wear short sleeves in November! I'm just glad I get to take a "dip" there and move back up north. That is until it snows here and I begin cursing the north lol.

On Friday we went to Atlantic Station. It's this shopping, restaurant, Ikea, cute area. We looked at a couple of apartments there, which we liked, but we heard a lot of students live there. I went to college, graduated from college, it's time for me to move on.

On Saturday, our anniversary, we went to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. Save your $15, trust me!

Saturday night we went to the Melting Pot in downtown Atlanta. That is seriously my fave restaurant, and it's so nice for a special event because you're there for like 2 hours. It's also a really great location. I'm a dork and didn't take any close up pics of the make up, but for the first time I waterlined and tightlined my eyes. I was going to wear my contacts, but Jason likes my naughty secretary look better lol.

All in all, it was an awesome weekend. <3

Tag- 9 Most Worn Things

I loved the tag that Fafinettex3 did on her 8 most worn things. So I decided to do one of my own, with different items.

1. Most Worn Shoes

These are my Monday through Friday work horse shoes! These Kenneth Cole's I scored for $25 from Marshall's Shoe Source. They have a sneaker bottom and tons of padding on the inside and are so comfy! I spend a lot of time on my feet in the classroom and these are perfect!

2. Most Worn Blush

Mac MSF in "Blonde" from the BBR Collection. I'm pale enough that this works as a blush and highlight. I ADORE this color. The texture, the color, the sheen, it's just perfection. I wear this on my cheeks at least three times a week.

3. Most Worn Shadow Palette

WnW Ultimate Expression Palette in Paradise Cove. This palette is friggin awesome! Seriously, it was like $5 and the pigmentation and color selection is awesome. I use this for my neutral days and for my purple days.

4. Most Worn Hair Accessory

How boring is this one?? I have a lot of fun headbands, but I work with a teacher who is sort of on the conservative side in terms of dress so I keep it simple. You can see how much I wear this black band by the fraying on the bottom!

5. Most Worn Polish

Sally Hansen Hard as Nails color in Cinnamon Pop. I love this color. It's just a fun shimmery red with out being over the top (as long as you have short nails). I don't really notice it making my nails any harder, but I do love the color.

6. Most Worn Shirt

I love this purple plaid shirt from Eyeshadow which I bought at Nordie's Rack. It's a thin see through fabric, but with a tank underneath it it's still comfy enough to wear in the current fall weather. It looks great with skinnies or with some black skinny pants.

7. Most Worn Jewelry

This is my daily arsenal of jewelry. The rings and bracelet I wear everyday and the earrings I wear at least three times a week. My necklace I almost change daily so I couldn't really include that.

The earrings are diamond inside out hoops from Lia Sophia
The rings are the Open Heart from the Elsa Peretti Collection from Tiffany and my PSU school ring
The bracelet is the New York Bracelet from Tiffany. Jason got this for me last Christmas so I could always have NY with me when I'm moving all around the country with him <3

Weekend Haul

It's been a while since I went shopping. Now that I'm making next to nothing and saving up for moving out in January, I've had to restrain myself big time. I had a minor shopping bug this weekend and took advantage of some good deals to give myself a temporary fix lol.

The goods:
-This adorable short sleeve sweater/cardi thingie from Marshalls for $13
-Pair of Franco Sarto shoes for $10!!! I was so friggin excited for these. My work shoes are a bit on the boring side and I thought blue comfy shoes would be so much fun to wear with khakis. The little heel makes them perfect for being on my feet all day.
-Natural Instincts Hair Dye in Rosewood- I love giving my hair a red tint. I dye my hair every 6 weeks due to the fact that I have GRAYS! Gray friggin hair at 24- not fairrrrr! I don't like using permanent dye because it's not the best for your hair and I hate roots. I use a semi-perm dye which gradually fades opposed to growing out.
-Almay Triple Effect Mascara in Blackest Black and it came with 15 free eye make up remover pads (stay tuned for a review). I like to think I'm technically on a buy still, I don't use mascara every day due to my glasses and I went to open my mascara of only 2 months it was a big melted gloppy mess. I bought this because Almay products are usually more sensitive and my eyes have been acting up due to the weather change.

Show Your Pride With Your Eyes

So I'm a HUGE sports fan. I mean, massively HUGE sports fan. My moods are frequently based on my sports teams. As a Mets fan, I've been a total bitch since June lol. I also went to a college that lives for their football team. I've been a Penn State fan since the womb (literally, I was conceived at Penn State LoL), and it was only appropriate that I went to Penn State. My four years as a student there I never missed a home game, mono and all lol.

After I graduated I never missed a game on tv. Yesterday was a huge game for us as we were playing our rivals, Ohio State. To me, watching a game is an excuse for a lot of bad behavior: junk food, drinks and tons of cursing. I also find it an excuse to have fun with make up!

I did an eye look that I actually really liked, a frosty silver and blue smokey eye- for PSU's colors Blue and White. Unfortunately, all the make up and cursing in the world didn't help us as we got our asses kicked! Oh well, I must learn it's only a game lol.

The arsenal:

-Flirt LE Palette
-Revlon Cream Shadow Palette
-NYX liner in Blue Sapphire
-Benefit Lemon Aide
-Almay Tinted Moisturizer
-Everyday Minerals in Sunkissed Fair
-ELF Studio Color Corrector
-NYX Concealer in a Jar Light
-ELF Studio Bronzer
-NYX Blush in Pinky
-ELF Studio Brow Kit

New Products Galore!

Two of my fave discount beauty brands, ELF and NYX are seriously rolling out the new products just in time for the holidays! I'm still on a no buy, but there are quite a few items that I will be adding to my future shopping list.

New ELF Products:

Lip Stains

Minty Lip Glass
add glossiness and fresh breathe in one step!

High Def Powder

For $3, it's worth a shot!

Brush Cleaner and Brush Shampoo

I'm so excited to try these out! I've been using some shampoos and face washes lol

NYX has added TONS of full palettes to their selection. These palettes are similar to the Blockbuster Kit from Sephora. They are full of shadows, glosses, blushes, powders, everything! These are complete make up kits in one thing! There are 9 new palettes and the link for them is here. I'm only going to feature the ones that I'm super interested in them, because I don't want to put too big a hole in your pockets!!

The Bronze Goddess Box- $30

I love the warm, summery colors in this kit. The palette has 12 shadows, 6 bronzers and blushes and 5 lip colors.

Eyeshadow Palette- $25

This palette comes with 78 colors, including some larger shadows in basic, smokey colors.

I always worry about quality when it comes to palettes. I know the quality of the NYX trios isn't as good as the NYX singles, so I wonder what the quality is like on these babies.

Has anyone tried any of these products on here? I'm wondering whether I should keep them on my wish list or not!
