Review and Tips and Tricks- Vaseline

I love Vaseline's Petroleum Jelly. So when I was contacted a few months ago to do a review of two of their products I jumped at the chance. I was sent two containers of Vaseline: one regular and one cocoa butter. To say that the Cocoa Butter is love, isn't putting it lightly lol. I LOOOVE this stuff.

There isn't much to review in terms of the product. I have super sensitive skin and use these products really all over and have never had a problem with them clogging my pores or breaking out my skin. These products serve a multitude or purposes and if you have super dry skin the Cocoa Butter version is right up your alley.

My favorite uses for Vaseline's Petroleum Jelly:

-Lip moisturizer
-Slather it on your feet with a pair of socks
-Use on super dry elbows and knees
-Rub lightly on eyelashes to condition lashes
-Use as an eye gloss
-Mix in a cracked eye shadow or blush to make a colored lip gloss
-Use around your cuticles
-Apply on a super thin layer on your wrist and spray your fragrance on helps it stay longer!
-Use around your hairline , ears and neck to prevent staining while dying your hair
-Tame eyebrows

I'm sure there are TONS of other uses for Vaseline. I looked up quite a few, but I didn't want to suggest any ideas that I haven't used myself. If you have any fab uses for Vaseline, comment below!

FTC: These products were sent to me by Vaseline. My opinions are my own and I have affiliation with Vaseline. I wasn't paid for this post.

Outlet Haul

Last week I went to the Woodbury Commons with my mom. The Woodbury Commons are an outlet center located in Upstate New York. They are about 45 minutes from me. They have a lot of high end designer stores mixed in with some stores that I can actually afford. I found a few Christmas presents there, but also had to spoil myself a bit. I just HAD to share these deals with you lovelies!

Kate Spade

Ok, ready for the price breakdown?
Outlet price: $145
40% off + an additional 50% off+ a 15% coupon from the website= $38!!!!

I got this adorable little baby for only $38. It is the PERFECT going out purse and I am completely obsessed with the polka dot lining.

DKNY Jeans

I don't know if this sale was just at the Woodbury Commons location or what, but the ENTIRE store was 75% off! I guess they are closing because there were no returns or exchanges allowed.

Wing Tee

This is a trapeze style t-shirt and isn't something I would normally like, but it's wide enough to slouch off the shoulder, so I kinda dig it.
Final price: $2.50!!!!!!

Embellished Neck Tee

I really love the pretty detailing on the neckline of this shirt. It's like a fancy neckline but a super casual material.
Final price: $9.75

These are my first pair of jeggings and they aren't your typical jeggings. They are really just super tight and stretchy jeans. They make my legs look super skinny which I love, BUT the very first day I wore them the fucking fly broke! Luckily they are tight enough to fit with out the fly, but I'm still pretty pissed.
Final price: $15

All in all, a fab day of shopping lol.

What I'm Loving Right Now

Ok, so I am ALWAYS so late with posting monthly faves, so from now on I will just randomly do posts of products or items that I'm currently loving.

1) Curling my hair- With out all the humidity in the air, my hair really holds a curl well. So I have been using my 1 inch hot tools curling iron very frequently.

2) Hope in a Jar by Philosophy Moisturizer- This moisturizer came with my Clarisonic. I reallllly like it. My skin gets SUPER dry in the winter, especially around my nose. This has kept the flakes at bay so far this fall. I only use it as a night cream because it is a bit on the thick side and takes a while to sink into the skin.

3) Pop of color earrings- I bought these earrings at and I really love them. I have a few earrings that provide a pop of color near my face, but these are my fave. In the winter my skin can look so dull, so this just helps brighten them up. I also have those eyes that range from blue to green depending on what I wear, and these babies definitely bring out the blue.

4) Cargo Bronzer in Medium- I received this in my November Birchbox and I ADORE it. It really brightens up my pale winter skin and blends beautifully. I think this color would work for someone as pale as me up to a medium skin tone.

5) Yankee Candle Christmas Cookie Scent- I ADOOOOOOOOOOOOORE this scent lol. I have the candles, the lip balm, the car scents. I mean the WORKS! Nothing says Christmas to me like this scent.

6) Olay Tone Enhancing Ribbons Body Wash- This stuff is really great and moisturizing. It's perfect for the winter months and in a pinch works as a shaving cream. The scent is very soft and slightly vanilla-y. It leaves the skin feeling super soft.

What are the products that you are currently adoring?

Cyber Monday Deal of the Week

Cyber Monday is the digital version of Black Friday. With the addition of Ebates, I do pretty much 90% of my holiday shopping online. This year is kind of difficult though because I'm at a TOTAL loss of what to buy most people this year. Greaaatt! Anyway, my fave Cyber Monday deal is courtesy of ELF. 55% off your total order!! WoohoOo!

I've only received info on ELF, Amazon and QVC Cyber Monday Deals. If anyone hears of any others (which I'm sure there are TONS!), please let me know!

CVS L'Oreal Clearance!

Last week, I read a post on Noveau Cheap's blog about certain L'Oreal products being 75% off at CVS. I went in last week to buy some soda and like always, I took a quick walk down the cosmetics aisle. I was pleasantly surprised to see a few L'Oreal products marked down. I decided to nab a few to check them out.

Left to right:
HiP Studio Secrets Kohl Liner in Black
HiP Shine Struck Gloss in Euphoria
HiP Color Presso Gloss in Posh
L'Oreal Bare Naturale Gentle Lip Conditioner in Soft Petal

Top to bottom, Left to right:
Pink Side of Presso Gloss-BLAH
Nudeish side of presso gloss- BLAHer
Euporia Gloss- very pretty
Bare Naturale Gloss
Kohl Liner

Overall, I'm glad some of these products were on clearance. The prices ranged from $2.50-$4.00. My fave of the products is the Euphoria gloss. I like the softness of the Bare Naturale gloss, but I wore it for 3 days straight and that broke out around my lips. The Kohl liner isn't as black as I had hoped, but it does stay put on the waterline. Happy shopping!

Monday, November 22, 2010's been a while!

Hello my lovelies,

Wow- it has been like three weeks since my last blog post! I wish I could say I was super busy with something fabulous, but I wasn't. I started teaching after school, studying hard core for my next exam and have been having some massive relationship difficulties. That in combination with laziness equals a neglected blog. :( So I have a couple of blog posts up my sleeves for the next couple of weeks.

Last month I watched a video by MissGlamorazzi on Birchbox. Birchbox is a monthly beauty sample program. For $10 a month you receive 4-5 luxe beauty samples. The brands range from Benefit, to Cargo, to Kiehls and TONS of other brands. I signed up immediately, becaysewho doesn't love getting presents!

The first box I received was November's box.

The adorable box. I really love the simplicity of their packaging.

Each month you receive a card with a mini description of the products and their prices. I think this is a great reference to include in case you really love a product.

Cargo Bronzer in Medium (my fave item of the bunch!)
Too Faced Prim & Poreless Face Primer
Laura Mercier Lip Glace in Opal (this is a very browny, neutral color, not at all like shown in the photo)
Perricone MD Cold Plasma Face Cream
Face Shop Collagen Sheet Mask

Below are swatches of the bronzer and gloss. The bronzer looks quite dark on my hand, but when applied with a light hand and a fluffy powder brush it actually works really well to brighten up my face. The gloss is also dreamy, it's a bit sticky but it smells like chocolate- so all is forgiven!

All in all, I think Birchbox is a really fantastic site and service. You can also earn Birchbox points by doing reviews on the items in your monthly box. When you accumulate 100 points you get $10 towards the purchase of the items and brands carried by Birchbox. A pretty brills idea if you ask me and a great gift idea!

Sephora F&F Haul

I made a very, teensy, tiny Sephora F&F order. I've been trying to buy a lot of new Drugstore products to test out.

Stila Travel Palettes in:

Trendsetting in Tokyo
Road to Radiance- Road Across the USA
The Balm Timebalm Concealer in Light

I had read a lot about these cute little palettes, and since I never tried Stila I thought this was a great way to test it out. I've also been on a cream blush kick and these both contained one- yay! I also have been on the hunt for a great concealer to cover my acne scarring and the red around my nose. Reviews lead me to try out this concealer. Here's hoping!

Trendsetting in Tokyo- From L to R, T to B
Peace Sign
Convertible Color in Sakura

Across the USA- From L to R, T to B
Southern Belle
Valley Girl
City Chick
Convertible Color in Hibiscus

Gel Nails

I love getting my nails done and tis the season for dark polish colors. However, I ALWAYS chip my nails on like day two. I didn't want tips or acrylics because they had been so damaging to my nails when I used to get them for special events. I had been reading a lot about OPI Gel Nails and decided to give it a try. My fave nail salon is right down the street and I saw the ad that they started doing the OPI Colored Gel. I walked in there and asked for it and the owner, whom I see quite frequently, advised against it and told me to go with Gelish Colored Gel which is the same price. She stated a lot of the clients who got the OPI process said it really damaged their nails and Gelish seemed to be more gentle.

This picture was taken on day 8 and so far, so good. My salon just numbers the colors, so I don't know what the name of this color is. It's a deep blue with a subtle red shimmer.

I read about and found the products here. I plan on seeing how long they can last and will let you know the results and also how they soak off!

Book Review: Lauren Conrad's "Style"

Several weeks ago I wrote about ordering Lauren Conrad's new book, "Style". I received and read it in about a weekend and I love it!

None of the advice is really new or groundbreaking, but it's a pretty book that's really nice to look through and it's nice to have all of these little tips in one book.

The book touches on everything from:
Building your Wardrobe
How to Shop
Mastering Our Closets
Getting Dressed for Different Events/Vacations
And a whole lot of tailoring and vintage advice

My favorite tips from the book include tips on shopping and incorporating vintage into our wardrobes and for making alterations to clothing at home.

Some of my fave tips or lines from the book:

-A short tutorial on how to hem our own jeans if you're in a hurry
-Lots of small numbers, equal a big number (refering to buying at F21 or H&M)
-Add in vintage pieces in small doses, too much and you look like you are wearing a costume
-Beautiful clothes are meant to be seen, so why not show them off?

If you're looking for a cute, fun and stylish read, plus a pretty coffee table book this is a great deal.

Available at Barnes & Nobles,, Amazon or most book retailers

I ordered my SIGNED copy from for less than $12!

Review: Kushyfoot Socks

Several weeks ago I was sent some products by Kushyfoot to test out. Kushyfoot makes socks and tights. Their socks and tights are a bit different though, since they have like little massagers built in. I was sent a pair of socks, tights and a Flats to Go (foldable shoes to keep in your purse). This is a review for my socks, since they are the product I've been able to test out the most lately.

I was sent the Foot Covers in Super Ultra Low Cut. They are perfect to wear to work with dress flats or heels. I was sent the color black which is great because most of my work shoes are black.

The best part of these, which my camera couldn't pick up, is there is a little padding built in under the toes and at the ball of the feet. It really helped keep them comfortable.

On my footsies:

They look really low cut on my bare feet, but with some of my shoes they actually show.

With flats:

As you can see they show a little bit on the sides of my feet, but that's about it!

These babies are awesome. They are available in black and nude. I would get nude for any shoes other than black ones, since sometimes they can show. I would also stick with the ultra low cut versions if you wear a lot of flats.

These can be purchased for around $5.25 at or your local Duane Reade. I will be repurchasing these over other brands, for the simple fact that the padding makes them much more comfortable.

FTC: I was sent these products by Kushyfoot. I was not paid nor am I affiliated with Kushyfoot. My opinions are my own and legit.

Holy Haulage! WnW and Winter Purse!

Last week Rite Aid was having a 40% off sale on Wet and Wild products. I had a $5 off of $10 worth of WnW products coupon from my All You Magazine. This was the perfect opportunity to try out a lot of the Color Icon palettes that I've been reading about all over the beauty blogosphere.

Top row-L to R: Color Icon Palette in Pride, Lust and Greed
Middle row- L to R: Megaglo Illuminating Powder in Catwalk Pink, Color Icon Trio in Sweet as Candy, NaturalBlend Lip Shimmer in Berry, Idol Eyes Cream Shadow in Pixi and Color Icon Brow and Eye Liner in Taupe on top
Bottom: Color Icon Single in Envy

Close up of shadows:

Ready for the final total: $18!!! I love sales and coupons.

Right near my Rite Aid is a Marshalls. I love Marshalls, but I really have to be in the mood to search. I was on the hunt for a winter purse. I really wanted a sling bag for work since I'm constantly moving classes with my purse. I found a grey leather beauty from the Jessica Simpson collection.

It's a soft grey with a dark purple liner. There is some minimal silver hardware on the straps. The bag has two external pockets and three internal pockets. For only $35..I'm thrilled!

Meet Claire, my Clarisonic lol

Yes, I was so happy to receive this beauty, that I named her Claire! I got this beauty on Thursday and began using her Friday night. The little brochures that come with the Clarisonic say to use it twice a day. However, several beauty bloggers who own this already informed me it's probably a bit too much to use it twice daily, so I only use it in the evening. I use this with the Philosophy's Purity Made Simple that came with the QVC bundle.

If you have any other tips or tricks in using this, please let me know! I will make a post in about a month to see how my skin is reacting to using this.

Sale Sunday (Deal of the Week)-10/17

I love me some Tar-jhay. I love the home goods, the cosmetics, the dollar section and I really love the clothing. I have quite a few pieces from various lines from Target and I really love all of them. As long as I follow the washing directions on the label, the clothing holds up really well.

This weeks deal of the week is a pointelle wrap cardigan from Mossimo's Black Line. It's on sale for $25 this week and comes in Oatmeal, Black, Grey and Green. Available at local Target stores and

A splurge! The Clarisonic!

I actually made a personal splurge and bought myself the Clarisonic! Wait until you hear or read the deal I got from QVC!

-The Clarisonic Brush
-Sensitive Skin attachment

-Normal attachment
-Spot Therapy Attachment (Body Brush)
-All those necessary chargers and wires, etc.

-A full size Philosophy Purity Made Simple Cleanser

If you read my blog regularly you know I'm pretty thrifty (with the exception of purses lol) so this is a big deal for me. I've really wanted to get something like this for a while in hopes it will help with me acne scarring. I was looking into alternatives, but for this amazing deal I thought it was worth it to try the real thing.

I can't wait to post when I receive it and then a review after I try it out for a bit!

September Faves

I always feel like once summer passes, the rest of the year just zooms by! I can't believe it's already October!

Anywho, here are my September faves!

-Modern Family DVD: Season 1-OMG do I love this show! I'm so glad the new season started. It literally makes me laugh out loud every single episode. If you've never watched, you really need to start!

-Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Creme- I've had this stuff for a loooong time, but only recently started using it and I am in love! It feels sort of like a vaseline and Vick's texture and has a very citrusy smell. This is really moisturizing for the cuticle area and I use it before i put on my hand lotion.

-Avon Nailwear Pro in Urban Grey- I looooove this color! It takes three coats to reach a level of opacity, but it lasts a considerably long time for the price.

-Applying my Neutrogena Healthy Skin Foundation in Buff with my Sigma SS187. This is such a great combo in terms of coverage and kind of air brushing out my pores. I'm going to be doing a review on this foundation with in the next two weeks, I'm still testing it.

-NYC Waterproof Eyeliner in Black- I hardly ever wear black liner because I swear it always smudges on me! This baby stays put! I'm going to do a review on this along with the other NYC products I've recently purchased.

....And finally,

My Puff's Plus (with lotion and Vicks). I've been sick non-stop lately! This tissues keep my nose from being too chapped and I am totally addicted to the smell of Vicks lol.

Deal of the Week- 10/3

Happy October! I'm working on my September faves post now. There aren't too many items in it, but the ones that are, are serious loves!

Anyway, my deal of the week is courtesy of Barnes and Noble's website,

On a side bar, if you love Barnes and Nobles as much as I do, it really pays to get a Barnes and Noble Membership. For $25 a year you get a card which gives you:
40% off hardcover bestsellers
20% off all adult hardcovers
10% off everything else- (mags, salebooks, starbucks, etc.)

You also randomly get coupons for 15 or 20% off coups for any item and free express shipping on orders.

Anywho, my deal of the week is a pre-order for a new book that I'm excited to read.

Lauren Conrad's Style Guide

I know, people either love or hate LC. I've always been a fan. My fave part, is her style and her hair. She always looks so gorgeous and put together, but not over the top. I read a tiny excerpt of this in Glamour, and I really wanted to add to my fashion/make up library and I thought this would be a great addition.

For only $10.79 I was able to pre-order a SIGNED edition! Stay tuned for a review!

Mini Weekend Haul

This weekend I had a tiny, mini haul. I got a fantastic deal on some NYC products from Rite Aid. It was BOGO free and then I had a $1 off coupon so I was able to get two waterproof liners and two glosses for $6! Not too bad for four products!!

Extreme Lip Glider Lipgloss in Carnegie Melon and Park Avenue Pink
Waterproof Eyeliners in Black and Teal

I also received my mini order from EleventhGorgeous. I just started watching EleventhGorgeous's videos on YouTube and I was introduced to their jewelry and accessories website. They have very cute and affordable accessories. I needed a watch for work and have wanted a white one for a while, so I ordered one from here and a very cute pair of earrings.

Large White Watch- $17.80
Turquoise Shell Disc Earrings- $2.80

Random pic of the weekend:

It was bath time for Tyson!!

Review: Neutrogena's 3 in 1 Concealer for Eyes

Several weeks ago I purchased Neutrogena's 3 i n 1 concealer for eyes and their Healthy Skin foundation. I'm still testing out the foundation, but felt I was ready to do a review on this.

This concealer is a 3 in 1, because it conceals, acts as an eye cream and has spf 20. I got the lightest shade, Light, since I'm pale as a mutha.

First, let's start with some before and after photos. My disclaimer is that I only have slight under eye darkness and not much puffiness luckily.

Before applying concealer:

You can see some slight discoloration in the corner of my eye and OMG- I don't realize how freckly I am until I see a close up pic lol.

After concealer:

As you can see, the coverage is medium, not as intense as I would like it, but I really like the way it brightens up my eye area. So, I would think if you have dark discoloration under the eyes, this probably won't be the best product for you.

The thing that really annoys me about this product is that it is a bitch to spread! Normally I just like to tap and roll my concealer under my eye, but this I have to rub in a bit and I really don't like doing that.

I do notice that the cream in it does help add some moisture to my normally dry under eye area. The real test for the moisturizing qualities is the next couple of weeks when it starts getting colder out.

Overall, it's a decent concealer, but I probably won't repurchase since it's so difficult to apply.

Price: $8-$10
Availability: Drugstores, Target, Walmart,
Will I repurchase: Probably not
