Smashion-the ebay of fashion

Several weeks ago I received an email regarding a website called Smashion. Smashion is just a great idea. It's an ebay like site, but only with clothes and accessories. The best part about it? No fees!!

Here are some facts sent to me by Smashion:

Our marketplace is always free and we will never change the "no-fees" policy. That is the main point of difference between us and our competitors (Etsy, eBay, Craigslist, and other online fashion marketplaces) -- we don't charge any type of fees and we leave your listing(s) up indefinitely. We are also different from consignment stores in that we don't accept any fees for helping to sell your clothes. The seller keeps 100% of their sales.

- We strive to act as a community to our users as well: to provide them with an outlet to discuss fashion topics in our forums, to share their styles in our style gallery, and to provide a blog to share fashion articles.

The site also ranges from the super affordable (think F21) to designer brands. It all depends on what people post!

Here's a link to my store on Smashion:

I only have a few items up so far, but plan on adding more. If you decide to sell some items and create an account with this site, please comment below and leave me your store link so I can check it out!

Top 10 Summer Products

This tag has been going around Youtube a lot and I've decided to give it a whirl.

1: The Body Shop Body and Leg Shine in Shade 01

I saw this in one of Dulce Candy's videos and had to run out and get it. It's a body bronzer and shimmer in a deodorant stick form! Shade 01 is good for pale people like me. My next post will be a review on this product. It's currently on sale at The Body Shop or for $8.00.

2: Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips in Sunset Strip

My Tammy love sent me this last year and it is just amazing. This is my summer go to product. It's a very shimmery bronzer so I either use this when I'm already tan (which is like never) or over a matte bronzer to really give me a glow. I also use this as shadows. It gives such a pretty bronzy look. I think Juicystar07 has a tutorial using this for the eyes.
Available at drugstores, Wal-Mart, Target for around $10.

3. Almay Pure Blends Tinted Moisturizer in Light Buff

I bought this in January at CVS during their annual beauty sale. I believe it is discontinued, but try any tinted moisturizer. During the summer, I sweat, I know it's not lady like, but it's something I just can't help. I can't have heavy foundation sweating off me, so I use a tinted moisturizer with an spf.

4. Speaking of sweating...Secret Clinical Strength Antipersperant

I don't know about where you live, but in NYC it not only gets hot, it gets sticky! This deodorant is really impressive. I can't say it stops sweating all together, but it reallllly helps and it keeps me fresh all day.
Available at drugstores, Wal-Mart, Target for around $11

5. Nivea Body Sunkissed Firming Moisturizer

The texture of this lotion is a little more watery than your average, but I really like it. I can't say I notice a difference in toning, but this gives my pale skin a slight natural glow within 2 days of beginning it.
Available at drugstores, Wal-Mart, Target for around $6-$8

6. Jergen's Natural Glow Healthy Complexion with SPF

This is my daily moisturizer during the warmer months. It's a moisturizer, gradual tanner and spf in one. This is in light and is only for the fairest of the fairs. It's even a bit too light of a tan for me, so I will probably switch to the one for medium skin tones come June.
Available at drugstores, Wal-mart, Target for around $6

7. Straw hats!!

Even at 25 my mom still calls me a hat baby, because I've always loved hats. I've only recently gotten into straw hats, but they are really great if you're going to the beach or going to be spending a lot of time outside. Try wearing one with a low side bun..too cute!
Hat on the left: F21 Hat on the right: Rampage

8. Anklets

I'm sorry, this is like the worst pic of an ankle bracelet ever!

I love anklets. To me they just scream summer! This is my fave anklet. It's a Nantucket Basket anklet and it's from my Grandma.

9. Halter bikini tops with a bottom band!!

I think triangle bikini tops are just soo cute. However, I could never wear one. The girls are a bit too big and a bit too south if you know what I mean. So I always wear a halter top with a band underneath. That little tiny band just gives me so much more support than a standard halter top or triangle bikini top does.
Top: VS Pink..currently on sale for $6.99!

10. Finally, FLIP FLOPS

Eww..look at my toe prints lol

I know there are gladiators and wedges and all kinds of cute sandals out there, but to me flip flops are my official shoes of summer. I have them in almost every color and they are just perfect to throw on and run out. Just make sure your toes are cute!

You get what you pay for?

I've been hearing the saying "you get what you pay for" since I was a little kid. My parents are complete shopping opposites. Although my father LOVES a bargain, he only loves a bargain if the item is worth it. Meaning my Dad loves a bargain for a quality piece of clothing, meal, etc. My mom is the opposite. My mom could do all of her shopping at Target and Kohls and be fine with it.

I didn't really get the meaning of the saying until I was older and started doing my own shopping. When I first began buying my own clothes it was all about quantity over quality. I never once stopped to think that the two could be the same thing if I only took care of my clothing!

My wardrobe is a mix of brands and stores. I shop everywhere from Lord & Taylor to Forever 21 to mom & pop shops in the Bronx. Sometimes the statement "you get what you pay for" is totally true. I have Coach and Louis Vuitton bags that my Grandma used for years that I now use. On the other hand, I've purchased $150 jeans and Juicy Couture sweats to have them fray just as my Gap jeans do.

When it comes to fashion and trends, it's just too damn expensive to buy into every trend and keep up with fashion with out the help of stores like Forever 21 and Charlotte Russe. However, these names don't have to by synonymous with "disposable" fashion like they used to be.

Read the care labels of ANY clothes you buy and maybe you can get a lot more than you paid for. Recently I've been buying and wearing a lot of F21 jeans. I've had one pair of F21 jeans for over a year and they look better than my True Religion jeans. It's just important to launder items correctly.

Washing denim:

-Unless you have a stain on your jeans, wash them very infrequently
-Wash jeans every 5-6 wears
-Turn inside out
-Wash in cold water

Washing bras:
-Unless you're super sweaty wash every 3-4 wears
-Hand wash and lay dry flat if possible
-If hand washing wash with a baby shampoo
-If you have to put it in the washer machine, use a bra shell..sold at Bed, Bath & Beyond and The Container Store
-NEVER dry a bra in the drier

Washing dress pants:
-Wash every 3-4 wears
-Follow washing rules on tags
-If part of a suit, dry clean both pieces together so one doesn't fade quicker than the other

Washing jackets and blazers:
-Wash every 5-6 wears
-Follow directions on tag
-Dry blazers laying flat on a drying rack..if you dry on a hanger the shape will get stuck in the shoulders

Washing bathing suits:
-Wash after every wear, even if you're just laying out
-Hand wash with a specific hand washing detergent (like Soak)
-Let air dry
-NEVER dry in a drier

So make those items that you paid for really worth it and take good care of them!

Need to update your wardrobe? Need some extra cash?

I've been a Lia Sophia advisor for several months now. I hinted at it lightly here and there, but now that I've gotten the hang of it..I wanted to write more about it.

In case you don't know, Lia Sophia is a direct selling business that sells fashion jewelry. A majority of the sales are done in a party format. Someone decides to book a party (the hostess) and holds the party at her home and invites whoever. Then the advisor (like myself) brings all the jewelry, catalogs and business items needed. Some advisors have games to break the ice and then the guests get to try on the pieces.

For holding the party, the hostess gets a certain percentage in free jewelry and several discounted items. I was a hostess several times before I decided to become an advisor. I owned enough pieces that I didn't even need to buy the starter kit, but you have to and it was useful.

I decided to become an advisor to not only make some extra cash, but also to meet new people. When I signed up, I thought I would be moving to Atlanta with Jason and needed a way to break the ice with new people. I'm still planning a move, but lately I've just been doing sales locally.

This is not a pyramid scheme or is there any pressure to sell or buy or whatever you might associate with direct selling.

I wanted to post in case anyone was interested in making some extra cash, this would be a great way. You don't have to live near me in order to get training and you don't have to live near me to have a party- you can have a catalog party!

Deals Galore!

I get my discounting ways from my Dad. If there is a deal within a 10 mile radius, my Dad can find it! About a month ago he saved me an article from New York's The Daily News about some discount websites for city gals. I signed up for all three websites and OMG-I am so happy I did!

All three websites offer deals on beauty services, fitness classes, restaurants and sometimes small stores. Signing up for the daily emails gets you daily deals sent right to your inbox! For some deals (especially those with KGB and Groupon) there is a limited amount of time that the deals are available. So if you see a deal you're interested in, act on it right away!

So far I've gotten a coupon for a Brazilian wax for $25, regularly $59, and two organic spray tans for $19, regularly $70!!! is offered in many big US cities ranging from Miami to Atlanta. is also available for many big US cities, offering the most deals in NYC, Chicago and Boston. is available in many major U.S. Cities, United Kingdom Cities and Italian cities.

If you end up getting any deals wherever you live, please comment and let me know! I love to hear about a fab deal!
