Co-op Update: Bathroom

Ok, so I totally suck at this moving, working, blogging thing.  Now that I am finally slooooowly getting settled into my place, I'm hoping my schedule will somewhat even out and allow me to do more blogging, which I love and miss dearly.

This co-op has been keeping me much busier than I thought.  The only room I have done to my liking  is my bathroom.  I still have a couple more pictures I want to hang up, but it's the only room that's photograph ready.

I am just SO in love with this bathroom.  I like how bright and crisp and clean it is.  I didn't mean to make it so nautical, but I do love the way it came out.  I was going for a Penn State/blue white theme.

I'm not in love with the medicine chest.  I may end up changing this somewhere along the way.

My FAVORITE buy for this bathroom were these awesome shower curtains.  Since my shower rod went almost all the way around, I needed to get 2.  I feel very dramatic getting out of the shower and pulling open 2 curtains haha.

The shower curtains are from Tommy Hilfiger via Home Goods and were only $16.99 each. Score!

This shower caddy I got is so high that I can only reach the bottom shelf. The top shelf will remain vacant.

My bath only had one of these little shelves, so I purchased this suction shelf from TJ Maxx for only $6.99.  I definitely want to get another one as the boyfriend already took over this shelf.  I've seen these at Bed, Bath and Beyond for over $20!

This piece is another one that I fell instantly in love with! I got it at Home Goods for $89.99 and I thought it was too tiny, but it actually houses a lot of my beauty goodies. It has paneled glass doors and a white marble top.  It's so pretty.

I want to do a little tour of my beauty cabinet in an upcoming post when I get it organized the way I want!

The next room I am close to finishing up is my kitchen, so expect a photo tour of that soon!

The All Natural Face Beauty Box- February

This week I received my February beauty box from The All Natural Face.  Yes, I received my February Box during the second week of March.  However, it is St. Patrick's themed so the timing of it, technically, is perfect.

From L to R:

*Eye shadows in Forest Nymph and Green Ice Storm- 5 gram jar- $3.50 each*

I love receiving full sized products, and I must admit these 2 colors are SO gorgeous and SO spring.  They are super shimmery though so I may have to play around with these.  While these jars had the little stopper stickers on it, they both spilled a bit around the box.

*Age Defying Daily Moisturizer- 1/2 oz jar, approx. $6.50*
"This stuff is magic in a bottle.  There are 2 age defying oils and 5 age defying plant extracts in this lotion, the extracts and oils will help with fine lines and wrinkles, baggie lids, dark circles and under eye circles."

So this stuff basically sounds like a miracle product in a bottle.  I will be trying this out to see if it meets the hype!

*Diva Stix in Black Kohl- $4.88*

I have heard A LOT about their Diva Stix which are eyeliners and bases.  This was an added product as the box states that they have had some less than perfect batches so added a random color to every box.  My batch must have been very imperfect though as there was no product in it at all!  See picture below.  I emailed them and asked if I would be getting sent another one, but haven't heard back yet.  Will update when I hear!

*Aloe and Cucumber Face Food- 1 oz. for $7.50*

"The aloe soothes, softens and heals while the cucumber calms and heals.  Your face has never felt softer or more hydrated.  Simple add a teeny bit of water to the powder, less is more, and apple as a mask.  Leave on for a few minutes to let the goodness seep in.  You can use yogurt, milk, honey, oil, whatever you would like in place of water if you want an extra boost."

I have the Strawberries and Cream Face Food and I love it so I am really excited to try out this version! Especially because my skin frequently needs to be calmed.

Top- Forest Nymph
Green Ice Storm

I didn't want to open these as I'll be moving in a day or 2 and the less mess I can make the better!

My empty Diva Stix :(

The approximate value of this box was $25.88, which is pretty good considering I only paid $15.  As I mentioned in my last post though, I was just trying this subscription box out and I wasn't blown away by it.  I wonder which box I will be trying next….

Cruelty Free Favorites: Face Brush Edition

Over the past year or so I have created quite a collection of cruelty free brushes.  I find that cruelty free brushes are one of the easiest cruelty free beauty products to locate.  I don't have a massive collection of brushes like a lot of people, but most of my brushes I use on a daily basis.

Here are my favorite face brushes:

Foundation Brushes

*ELF Powder Brush*

I used this regularly a few years ago and I don't know why I stopped.  I purchased a new one and I love it!  It works so beautifully, especially with my ELF Acne Foundation.  I apply my foundation with my fingers first and use this to first stipple and then swirl the foundation into my skin.

*Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge*

This has been my go to foundation application tool for some time now.  I love this thing and I have repurchased it quite a few times.  It applies foundations beautifully and so seamlessly.  This will be an item I repurchase many times over for many years to come.

*ELF Kabuki Face Brush*

FIrst off let me say, this is the SOFTEST brush ever!  It is so beautiful and applies powder foundation beautifully.  This won't give a full coverage look with powder foundation, but will give a nice light to medium coverage and really helps to blend the powder into the skin.

 Concealer Brushes

*Real Techniques Essential Foundation Brush*

I know this says foundation brush, but this has to be the tiniest foundation brush ever invented.  I use this to apply and blend in my under eye foundation.  This doesn't work as well with thicker under eye concealers, but works amazingly with more watery concealers.

*Kirkland Foundation/Concealer Brush*

This brush came in the Kirkland holiday brush set a few years ago and I love it!  It comes to a bit of a tip so I use it to apply cream concealer to blemishes and around the nose.  Unfortunately I feel like this brush may be on it's way out soon so I will have to find a replacement.

 Blush/Bronzer/Highlighter

*ELF Mineral Powder Brush*

This is another recent purchase and while it's not the typical shape of a blush brush, I find that I really like it to apply and blend out blush.  I like to apply blush to a small area and then blend it out and this works perfectly with it.  I love using this with pigment blushes.

*Kirkland Powder Brush*

This is another brush from the Kirkland holiday collection from a few years ago.  Unfortunately, it also appears to be on its way out, but I still love it.  On a daily basis I apply bronzer all over just to warm up the face and this big brush does that beautifully.  It blends out powder bronzers so well and I will miss this guy when he finally "goes".

*ELF Stipple Brush*

I love this stipple brush to apply my highlight.  I wanted to get the small version of this, but found this one works just as well.  I mainly use this with powder highlighters and it puts on just the right amount.

 Powder Brush

*Real Techniques Multi-Task Brush*

I love using this brush to apply my finishing powder.  I want to get another one to use it as a bronzer brush, but right now it's the perfect powder brush.  It's large enough to cover large surfaces of the face, but not too big to work into around the nose or eyes to finish any look.

Are there any cruelty free face brushes I should add to my collection?  I find the better the brushes, the better the makeup (even the cheap stuff) looks!

February Random Favorites

My random February favorites all have a healthy spin to them.  Even though winter is still here (it's snowing and sleeting as I am writing this) I have spring on the brain and it's time to get rid of my winter flub.  Here are a few little things that have been helping me along the way.

*Trader Joe's K-Cup Medium Roast*
These babies have quickly become my favorite k-cups.  It's $4.99 for a box of 12 which is a pretty decent price.  It's a bit of a stronger coffee than I'm used to, but compared to my normal iced lattes I usually have, it's definitely healthier.

*Starbucks Tumbler*
My friend Mamita got me this tumbler and I am so obsessed with it!  It's very unique compared to their other tumblers and I believe it's a trenta size.   I use this for water during my workout and I make sure to drink the entire contents during a workout.

*Blogilates 30 Day Butt Lift Challenge*
Cassey has been doing these month challenges since January and I LOVE them.  I did this every day right when I got out of bed and gave me such a great feeling of accomplishment every morning.  It's just a few simple moves, but it makes a great deal of difference.  This month I already started the thigh slimming challenge.

*Oatmeal and Peanut Butter*
I believe it was Makeup Geek who posted a recipe video using peanut butter and chocolate protein powder in with oatmeal.  I have yet to find a chocolate protein powder I am crazy about, but I tried the concoction with just peanut butter and OMG it's amazing!  It's very creamy and filling and really bumps normal oatmeal up a bunch.

I love Kendra!  She uses a lot more natural brands than some of the other Youtube Gurus out there and she's just so damn pretty and so down to earth seeming.  I really enjoy her Vitacost hauls as they give me tons of items to add to my list.  If you are looking to incorporate more natural products into your skincare regimen or get some beauty inspiration I would definitely check her out.

February Beauty Favorites

I know February is the shortest month, but it honestly felt like the longest month.  That may be due to the fact that February brought snow storm after snow storm to New York as well as beyond frigid temperatures.

However, despite the weather I ended up having a great February as I closed on my co-op!  I had to look fashionable while dealing with all of that real estate stuff so here are the beauty items I reached for the most during the cold month of February!

*Younique Lucrative Lipgloss in Lovesick*
This beautiful lipgloss was part of Younique's February Beauty Bundle.  At first sight I didn't know if it would be a color that I would like.  However, when applied to the lips it looks almost nothing like in the packaging.  It takes on a beautiful lollipop/cherry slush like color with a hint of sparkle.  It's a very brightening color and really brings life to my pale winter face.

*Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette*
I've had this palette for quite a while and normally only busted it out for special events, but considering my skin is SO dull this winter I decided to use it daily.  I use the skin toned shade (Dim Light) as a sort of all over finishing powder, the bronzer (Radiant Light) as a light contour and the highlight shade (Incandescent Light) as you guessed it…a highlight!

*Elf Studio Contour Brush*
I have never ever been able to achieve the perfect outer v shape while doing my face makeup.  That is until I purchased this $3 brush!  This brush is the perfect shape and density to make a flawless outer v.  I highly recommend this brush if you ever struggled with achieving that beautiful eye look.

*Milani Powder Blush in Coral Cove*
The theme of this month is brightening products!  This coral blush, with the gorgeous rose design, does just that.  It provides such a pop of color to my lackluster face.  I really can't wait to try this color in the summer when I have a bit of a tan as well.

*Brija Cosmetics in Nothing Sexy*
Yes, I have become obsessed with my Brija Cosmetics products.  This beautiful silvery, taupe with sparkles is just gorgeous.  I have been using this almost daily as just an overall wash on the lid and it looks so stunning.  She recently came out with a Harry Potter collection and I will definitely be making a small purchase from it!

Swatches from L to R:
